I give you huge props. You took so much time on that but then you spray painted it man. Save up a hundred bucks and take it down and have someone shoot it with automitve paint and it will look 100 times better. It doesn't look bad at all now but get someone to paint it.

i called a few shops around here(miracle, maaco, etc) and nobody wanted to touch it. oh well. i gota redo it AGAIN cause it doesnt sit right, and i cant close the doors without slamming them cause i put a little too much bond in one spot on the sides and now the doors rub on it, and where i put some reinforced fiberglass mix on undersides by the belt holes i put too much and now that part sits down on the belt support pedestals and wont let the thing be flush. oh well. i think i might scrap this one as a learning process and start a new one in a month or two with a whole new design(subs placed different, amp recessed and under plexiglass :dsm: sign.

i dont HAVE to start over, but i think itll be the best idea. if i redo it this will be my 5th time refinishing it. something tells me its time to realize that this WAS my first attempt at anything this big, and that if i do another one and start out fresh it will come out 100X better.

and the subs sound great. i like them low and deep, not all loud and obnoxious ghetto style, and these sound great to me. that amp is like way overload for those subs, cause those subs were just intended for test fitting(got them for 100 a pair, ebay) so ill be upgrading to the better ones later on.

If I didnt have to use my car to haul hockey equipment, youd bemaking one of these for me right now. Looks awesome! :thumb:

Oh, whoever said they did a fiberglass rear seat delete, send me some pictures. I may need to do that one day.

Looks pretty sweet. Is that a FMIC I see in one of the pics? When's that going on?

I don't know how you were going to redo it but I would make a mold from your current part. Do you have a spray gun?

Unless you were going to completly redo the design I wouldn't start from scratch.

no ill be making a whole new mold, using some wood in the process for strength and keep from warping during the process. the subs will be at a little different angle with the amp recessed. ill prolly start the process in a few weeks. the one i have now ill modifiy it to fit right then sell to another spyder guy i know for around 100 bucks, since id prolly just trash it anyways.

and that is a intercooler i got off ebay. possibly going on this week or whenever i get time to rip the front end off and get in there because the piece from the j-pipe to the ic will be 1 piece(welded from 3 different bends) and the piece that goes from the other IC outlet will go out to the smic area and up to the UICP(so i can keep the bov location). its going to be tack welded by my neighbor, then hes taking the pieces of pipe to his shop and welding them together, cause im going to have it powdercoated red.

I couldn't find if you said or not, but how did you mount in your car? Did it just sit in there? Did you leave the interior pieces in? I have built the wood frame that I will be using for strength. I want it to be able to replace the stock interior pieces with the piece I build.

Oops Yea storage

I don't have that car anymore and sold the storage bins
now i have a 91 Awd Tsi stroker with a roll cage.

Gee, I suddenly see why I never can find this goddamned thread with a search.

We have a search feature? whoa... WTF ROFL ROFL

You should remove those rear seatbelts. unless you plan on people sitting on the storage bins.

Well this thread has been my inspiration to do this but i finally finished it up tonight. I went with the storage bins out of '85 rx-7 and was lucky enough to find it with black carpet! I'll post some pics of it tomorrow for those that care. I know this thread has been dead for a while.

I know I definitely wanna get rid of mine. Instead of having storage bins, what about putting some subs there? Will any fit?

If you remove your back seats you could fit any sub you want back there... your options are pretty much limitless.

Nice, may I ask how you did your plastic panels? They look pr-pretty good lookin'.

Hmmm.... instead of storage bins, what if you made it into like, a couch or something?

Just me thinking of different ideas. Instead of the stock back seat, make a low rise seat, or two bucket seats that dip down into where the bins are at.

Also leaves nice room for a system, and easy access to nitrous (if you put it in). OR air suspension (airride shockwave is a NICE system).

Who do you hate so much that you want to put them in the back of a DSM? If they're bigger than your Barbie doll, they won't fit.

I think you'd find that the rear seats are for insurance rates. 4-seat sporty coupes are cheaper to insure than 2-seat sports cars.
