Just a warning, though it may not apply to all seats: The seats with the triangular reclining dial, such as the Yonaka seats; Those plastic dials are only held on with very small plastic tabs and easily fall off or break off. At the store I work at, we have a set of leatherette racing seats where the adjustment knob broke off and it was easy to see why. I'm not sure if all seats that use this type of dial are prone to this, but the Yonaka adjuster looks exactly the same.

Thanks for the heads up. I am having a hard time finding a place around here with seats to actually sit in. I am not going to order and hope for the best. I wish I could find a pair of Evo 8 seats for 300 bucks :(

Personally i've bought these and installed into my previous car. "Leather" is very good quality, actually shines really nice when wiped down with armor all, light weight. Those pics on the site don't do them justice. The only problem i had was the brackets were a PITA but i'll probably buy them again when i am ready

I dig those Yonaka's but i can't find them anymore for that price OMG(

I'm curious what issues did you have with the brackets? Fitment issues, tight space?

Keep in mind this was on a '99 Cougar. But the brackets are just like all the other universal mounting brackets, nothing new there but I had to do some serious measuring, test fitting and welding for it to be safe. It was well worth it in the end

The triangle recliner piece is almost useless but still works. I really wish i had pics of the seats but no dice

i know that they are a little more expensive but i have a pair of corbeau A4's and i love them. Them material is great and you can fit them with brackets made specifically for your car.

You need more than the universal bracket at least on a 2g. You need to find brackets that look like a box with one corner smashed in. I imagine you could use momo or megan racing brackets on most of the seats. I custom made brackets and they were a pain in the butt.

I had 3A racing seats...They were pretty stiff and they didn't breathe at all. My back would sweat when it was 20 degrees outside. it sucked.

Anyone try out the Megan seats and are they a direct bolt in? I see thay make brackets for our cars so I'm assuming yes. I just can't see myself spending money on seats that I can't sit in first before I purchase.

I am planning on buying these racing seats off eBay.

I've seen the same exact ones in a dsm before and they looked good, they didn't look cheap at all. Now, these won't bolt right up to the stock rails so what else would I need to bolt them onto a 2g? Help is appreciated. I searched but couldn't find much info on what exactly needs to be done to have them installed. :dsm:

Aside from the seats you'll need the sliders (or rather you'll want them) and then the brackets. From what I could find when I was looking into it there are a few choices for brackets such as Sparco and Tenzo-R, as well as other (I think) other companies such as Summit that have a line of their own.

In the end I got fed up, decided to go to the local junkyard and found a nice whole 'new' set from a wrecked eclipse that I got for $150.00; but I was looking for cloth and not leather, manual and not power, etc...

I bought some seats that I had custom wrapped, and they didnt fit on the sparco brackets that I purchased, so I went to a muffler shop and they took a piece of long flat (but sturdy) steel piece and welded it (more inner) on two sides of one bracket so that I could just drill holes in them to bolt the seats onto. Maybe try that, it worked great for me =)

Call me crazy but I'd stick with the stock seat or go with a well know company Sparco, Momo, ECT. Having a seat fold in half in a wreck is not a good thing. It really a peice of saftey equipment.
... Meaning you buy nothing but namebrand? When seats you usually just pay for the brand, heh.

The stock seat in my 2G actually broke for no apparent reason at all... Thats why I went with an after market sparco (well that and ebcause I couldnt find an OEM replacement in time, oh and the sparco seat was on sale)
The welds broke one day, luckily it happened while I was in a parking lot and not moving.
I am not THAT fat either..
Though I do feel a little safer in the sparco, the tube frame just feels study and its non reclinable so wont break in the same spot :sneaky:

any ways my point is OEM is not always better... and name brands could be the same (like my sparco bracket is off by an inch or 2 and the shoulder part of the seat touches the door..)

Check out the Megan seats and they even make brackets for our vehicles for what is supposed to be a bolt and go. According to Megan(supposebly) "All seats have been tested for 15G rear impact collision, conducted by an automotive research & testing center overseas" I don't know about you but I wouldn't buy some cheap ass seats just cause they look cool. Ever wonder why you don't hear alot about aftermarket seats for our cars? My life is worth more then some cheap ass seats but it's your money and I would spend the money on something that has been proven. Another thing is that you say that you have seen them but have you actually sat in them? That's like buying a bed and not laying on it for awhile before you buy it or getting a couch and not sitting in it before you make that purchase. Sorry if I'm blabbing or lecturing but I guess it's the Dad in me because I would tell my son the exact same thing I am telling you when he gets to that point in life. Good luck

Meaning with like anything you usually get what you pay for to an extent.

I'm not saying OEM or anybrand for that matter aren't going to have problems or even break but at least the OEM seats have be crash tested and name brands like sparco and momo are used all over the world in top racing teams. I like my sparco personally and I do feel safer in it.

I was looking at these Megan Racing SEATS-BLACK

They recline, slide and look decent, and I am guessing they would weigh less than the OEM seats. HOWEVER since I would be partly buying them for less weight and partly for better bolstering. I am curious if anyone has these, if so what do you think about them? And does anyone know how much they weigh?

There are also there "Carbon Fiber" seats Megan Racing Carbon Fiber Seats Very reasonable price but again I got to wonder, how good are they and how much do they weigh? Because if there actually comfy, light and decent seats then I can deal with a fixed seat.

They are lighter than OEM for sure. You will need seat brackets though. I got mine from wedge. I love my seats.

Wedge you can buy directly though them or through slow boy. They are about 99 each. They weigh more than the seats.
No clue on how much the seats weigh.
They do sit a little high, so if you fold the seat forward to crawl in the back they hit the sun visor.
This is the only pic I have.

$99 a seat? That's not bad at all, and they look great. Don't get me wrong I respect the quality on more expensive seats, but I'm not paying $500 a piece for racing seats

Gamble please change your harness setup before you destroy your spine in an accident.

I was thinking the same, I know your a wise man and thanks for the pic and commenting on this thread. But seriously man if you get into an accident, the way your harness is right now will do more harm than good. The harness should be going straight back to either a dedicated bar or something along those lines to prevent the compression of your spine in a collision.

The seats are $250 not 99.
