Dual exhaust [Merged 7-9]

thanks for all the replies yes i was just throwing around the idea of it, it would not look bad it all if i could show the idea of what i was thinking. my goal was to have the look i want but not lose the performance. most the 3" exhausts i would buy (thermal and jus maybe n1) are single and have very large tips and i really dont exactly want that. thats why i had the idea to try to run dual not for performance in any way but i would also try not lose performance by doing it. yes i know it is completely pointless in a performance view of things but as long as i dont lose any to this setup then what does it matter?

Dan Cokic from http://www.pruvenperformance.com/dan.html put dual exhaust on his for flow or for looks and he is able to run high 10s so i know in the spec of things it is a four cylinder and it does not make any sense but if u think in the legist of looks but then at the same time ur not going to lose any performance, then whats the problem?

hey i got the bomex bac bumper....should i do a duel exhaust?? rite now i have an apex'i N1...so i guess that would b 2 apex'is...whatdaya guyz think?

what would look better then that is if you got some of those corvette angle shaped tips for the rear end...i will see if i can find a pic for you...the 4 pipes makes it look liek you just hit the james bond rear firing cannon button

here is a link, scroll down about half way to the corsa gtr exhaust package

We've already established the foolishness of a dual exhaust on a 4-cylinder, so let's not go there.

It's also not up to us what someone else wants their car to look like, notwithstanding however much we wish we could (I've not heard back from my contract team who are searching for the creator of spinner hubcaps).

Keep it in the slow lane here, people. I'd hate to have to lock a thread.

cough

While i'm not fond of the bumper (or entire kit for that matter), I do think that it would look akward with just one exhaust, but two bumper cutouts for exhausts. I say go for it, otherwise it would just look awkward and incomplete. The bumper was obviously meant for dual exhausts... so just go with the flow :p

I was considering duals for my blitz rear, till i saw how nice the apexi' looks... i do think with that rear you need duals though. maybe two large single mufflers, angled a little to fill up the opening.

Why dont you just put identical tips in the spare hole, and a polished plate to simulate the look of the muffler can.

you will accomplish what you want (looks), without alot of weight, work, hassle, maintainance.

then just use some brackets to keep the false exhaust in place.

Just put a little flat black paint inside the false tips because the other will be black with burnt fuel anyway!

it would be very simple to add a splitter and weld in a new pipe... however if you want them to be angled, youre going to have to cut out the spare tire well...

has any 1 seen these taillights in black on a car thats not black? i think it would look cool if ya got any pics post em

im not going to turn this into a rice rant, but those arent tail lights, those are covers for the stock tail lights. just about anyone can make those them selves.

What if you used smaller diameter piping like 2.25" or even 2", for each exhaust side. That way you wouldn't lose and back pressure. This may be a retarded idea but its just a thought?

I am interested in a dual exhaust for my eclipse. I have just got the bomex kit and would like to fill the rear slots. I was wondering what I would need, and if it is possible to do it myself. I am doing this strictly for show seems how I have an rs model.

Well obviously you will need piping. And a welder and an extra set of hands. Bring it to an exhaust shop and let them run the piping. BTW this is a performance community and you will ###### get flamed for wanting the dual exhaust. *Puts suit on*

ROFL he could run 2 cyl on one pipe.
But serously, you will need a y pipe like this:

and run the pipes over the gas tank or put both pipes(good luck on this one) through the "maze".

Or maybe you could put the muffler right after the cat and run pipes back. It will most likely be easer than finding a place to put a muffler on the passanger side.

it might fit on the other side of the gas tank, good luck

What kind of shows will this car be in? If the judges will be scrutinizing the underside, you'll most likely need to get a professional to do this. As stated before, you'll need piping to be routed, a Y-pipe, etc.

You may also consider a false muffler. Canister mufflers (i.e. N1 style) can be had on eBay for a very low price. You could buy one, mount a few brackets on it and slap it under the car. Then you'll have the illusion of a dual exhaust without going through all the trouble you'd otherwise be facing.

Yea but then you have carbon on one and not the other. If you going dual do it right not a false muffler. You will be made fun of if you add a false muffler I gaurentee it.

He'll be made fun of regardless, dual mufflers on a 4 cylinder are a waste of resources. If this will be a show car, then there shouldn't be any carbon on either of the mufflers to begin with.

He wants to fill out the two slots in the bomex bumper, If he had a muffler just hangen there, the judges would most likely see that.
Plus he's from wisconsin too, it will look very funny in the winter with only one muffler blowing out vapor.

I want to run dual exhaust on my car. Im giving my car a makeover. Rims, paint, tint, lowering it... But I really want Dual. I dont think I have seen any of our cars (1g) with Dual. I have a 3" downpipe that goes into 2 1/2" I want to get a dual outlet magnaflow muffler right after the downpipe and run dual tips out the back. The car is pretty much stock. Is that a bad idea?

Wow there was a thread on this yesterday. But go ahead, youll need custom hangers and custom routs to the back.
But be aware, youll be forever known as a ricer. ROFL

Yeah because all the muscle car guys have angled fart cans coming out of the back of their cars.........
