Wrong! Schroth has on their website that it is acceptable to use lower seat belt mounting holes in the rear seat. They even provide pictures to show that it is OK to mount the belts that way.

As long as they are not straight down it "should" be ok, but that wasn't good enough for me so I did take the harness out this past winter and put my seat belt back in. Plus it's just easier.

I would still like to get actual weight numbers from someone if possible. I have read online (since you know thats a reliable source) that the 1G cloth seats were 50lb each, Not 100% sure about that but they are heavy to not be power seats or anything special.

It's not going to be light regardless for a reclining seat. For a race seat that is fixed back then it will be lighter. Comfy, I doubt. I just bought a Sparco race fixed back seat (Sparco Evo) and I know I'd die if I had to daily drive with it. I have driven in the new 2009 Porsche 911 with the carbon fiber fixed back seats and I would never buy those seat if I daily drove the car, but they hold you extremely well during hard driving. So the moral is, whether you spend thousands on the carbon fiber fixed back seats in your new Porsche or you buy a Sparco fixed back-- a fixed is a fixed back and they suck for daily use. But I don't think when the engineers sat down to build a fixed-back race seat they had daily driving in mind.

I'm keeping my Sparco Torino II reclining seat just so I have something more comfortable to drive around town in. Who cares if it is something like 30-40lbs. Then I'll pop my Sparco Evo seat in for the track.

I just ordered some of the Bride "replica" seats which are still made by Bride. I got 2 Bride Vios III full bucket seats for $400, and I am ordering brackets from Wedge.

There are already a few threads about these seats but I'll say it again. I would NOT buy these. I've tried just about everyseat out there from cheap Pep Boys ones to almost every Sparco, Bride, Recaro etc and I can say with confidence these are close to the worst seats you can buy. I unfortunately got them for a great price and needed seats for road racing so I picked these up. They're actually quite heavy.. with the wedge brackets they're close to 40lbs each. The cloth material is very cheap and feels more like the material a basketball jersey is made out of than anything. They have decent lower back bolstering but the shoulder bolstering is not as good. The worst part though, was after several months of daily driving the reclining bracketry started getting looser and looser.

I was almost embarassed to have people in my car because of the seats. The plastic pieces that surround the holes for the harnesses break and come off. I can't say anything good about them. For how bad they are, they really aren't even cheap. Stick to name brands with something that's so important for driving. You'll find they won't cost much more and will outlast cheap seats a few times over.

I've since got rid of these and now have a fixed back carbon bucket seat from a local company and I love it even for daily driving. It weighs about 15 lbs including the bracket and is much stronger than the Megan seats.

^^^ Thats what I was looking for, thanks for putting your experience out there. I guess I will just save up for some Sparco or maybe Buddy Club seats or something,

Hmm, I don't have ANY of those problems.
The seats are light, the wedge brackets are heavy.

Good luck passing safety inspection at the road race tracks like that. First of all, your not at all allowed to have harnesses without a roll bar. There are REASONS for this, just because scroth says its okay (OMG it makes money off of them selling it to you) does not make it acceptable.

Honestly, you shouldn't even be asking about seats online. Find some you think you'll like, and TRY them in PERSON. If you can't, don't buy them. Sit in them for a long time. Pretend you're driving, read a magazine, whatever. This is something very important to you and everyone will fit differently and have their own opinion.

The lightest seat that I know of is the RECARO Profi SPA at 8.8 lbs. (<a href="http://www.recaro.com/index.php?id=3632&region=3&L=2">http://www.recaro.com/index.php?id=3632&region=3&L=2</a>) No racing seat is going to be adjustable because they need a rigid backing.

This thread is from 2004!

Do not get the Megans. I repeat DO NOT GET THE MEGANS!. I had the same thing happen to mine like eclipsegsx1736's did with the harness holes falling out and looking dingy.

Especially don't get them in blue. I practically had to GIVE those away to someone :barf:

And for those of you who say not to get a fixed back for a DD.....psshhhh wussy! Haha, I drive my fixed back Sparco race bucket almost everyday. Pot holes feel GREAT on your tailbone ;).

Alright looking to buy some new seats for my gsx and came across these on ebay. they look nice, just looking if anyone has ever bought these things and are they comfortable? or if anyone has a similar black leather racing seat for around the same price they would like to share? just looking for something that is comfortable, serve their purpose, and are cheap. (of course black leather) no cloth. :thumb:

From the pics the quality looks REALLY cheap IMO. I've seen better stuff at the local Vatozone

Go for it, if this is for a daily driver and not a drag/race car then I think you don't need to spend too much on seats. Honestly if you hadn't mentioned you got them off eBay, installed them, took some pics and posted them, I bet the same guys who 'only buy name brands' would tell you they look great ;)
