Your turbo's compressor wheel doesn't care what kind of fuel you're burning.

I know you are probablly tired of all my questions by now...i was hunting for a tdo5h 20g compressor map and it looks like the safest i can possibly push this compressor is 2.8 pressure ratio give or take.

Yeah they're not listed on any site- if you need them you'll need to get in touch with Bill @ Bullseye Power...the T3 housings they sell don't have a "standard" bolt pattern to the hold-downs.

Maps, in our case, are just a point of reference. They don't know displacement, fuel type, timing or other tuning factors, turbine size, turbine housing size, exhaust restriction, or a pile of other factors that can effect total airflow production.

So take your setup up to a point where it stops gaining airflow or you run into a knock wall, back off a few psi, and be happy.

Justin I don't know if you remember me but I recently got a HX40 rebuilt by you and had planned on running the .55ar BEP housing but my budget has changed and I now will be going with a T4 17cm housing setup so it looks like.

Below are pictures of the housing I believe to be a T4 17cm OEM Holset exhaust housing. Can you confirm?

Second question is, what is a going price range (my research didn't net any results, and running the number came up with a link to Talon Dave on the NABR site i believe)? This is supposedly new.

I push my TDO5H Unclipped 20G with a ported 7CM hotside external dump to 30psi consistantly. Have been for 2 years now with the only issue of slightly up and down play. And I believe the compressor wheel is from Kinogawa.

awesome are you using pump 93 or e 85? is that a boost spike or normal boost? are you getting any knock?

I use both 93 and E85, With water/meth injection. That's normal, She holds that pretty well to redline, Might be a psi or two lower but she holds. I havnt seen any knock for a while. Then again I didnt drive her to much since the summer. Picked up a 2014 Mustang GT, Little bit more fun to drive

The only thing that has saved this turbo is the larger thrust bearing, The stock size steel/bronze thrust would eat itself inside a week on my car pushing that. But with the upgraded thrust I havnt had a issue and recommend it for any turbo.

It's either 17cm2 or 19cm2....look inside the inlet flange for a number cast into the housing which will tell you the size of the scroll.

I can't honestly give you a figure- it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay as certain housings have less demand than others. I've given away 18cm2 T3 housings in perfect shape in the past because none of the diesel guys want them- they all favor the 16cm2 models because they're concerned with spool. Same goes for the T4 housings....the 17cm2 models are generally priced higher than the 19cm2 housings.

Been using those myself for years in any performance MHI turbo that's going to be seeing higher-than-stock boost levels.

ALTHOUGH- I can also report that guys running high-ZDDP racing oil generally have far less thrust wear, even on OEM thrust parts, than those using conventional "consumer-grade" oils.

I had the same issue running VR1 20W50 but than again I have heard that it isnt what it claims to be. But so far im running Rotella 15w40 with no issue. Fed from the OFH running a FFOFH with higher than normal oil pressure. Non Turbo block

Justin, what is your opinion on using evo X shaft on a DSM 20g in 7cm housing. WOuld there be any improvements or a downside?

An Evo X turbine is a TD05H; the same that is used in most 20G's found on DSM's.

Not hard at all. People have been doing it for 6 years or more:

You'd have to get the standard MHI bearing housing machined a little to use a Evo X's tapered heat shield. Other than that, they're 100% interchangeable.

Steel doesn't wear at all when you're using the right oil. When you're using the wrong oil, it wears faster than anything.

If you choose the steel be sure the kit you're buying comes with the wider thrust collar and not a standard collar.

So to ask again, what do you think would be the advantages, if any , of using Evo X turbine wheel on a single scroll dsm housing.

I currently have five OEM Evo X 152G6 cores on the shelf...NONE which have this 9-blade turbine you speak of.

So, to reiterate- the turbine already is the same as any 14B, 16G, and most 20G's found on DSM's.

How good are you with newer Garrett turbos? I found one with a turbine wheel that has 9 blades and measures approx 54mm OD. It's an odd number of blades, so I can'e measure directly. Is it a GT25 or GT28 wheel?

I have a plethora of old 14b and small 16g turbo's laying around and would like to use one as a "free" upgrade on a Mazda powered vehicle that originally had a dinky RHB5 IHI. I also have a manifold that will bolt onto said car, but has a T3 mount flange.

My question for you is... Are there any turbine housings out there that will bolt onto a 14b/16g that have a T3 flange? I've noticed a couple on eBay that read "TD05H T3" but something tells me they won't work... Would I be better off using an adapter/or hacking the correct flange to the manifold I have?

I pulled the cold side off my Gm5 turbo to clean it more tonight and there's rtv on it which I assume was to seal the housing, should I apply some when putting it back together? I've never seen rtv on a turbo before.

It may be factory, or it could've been sealed by the previous owner...although I have indeed seen RTV used to seal the cover from the manufacturer on a few various IHI and KKK turbos over the years. Nothing beats the seal...until you want to clock the cover or remove it for any reason.

Justin, opinions on a divided T4 16mm or 17mm housing on an HX35? Looking for very quick spool and response, going on my cast divided T4 manifold. Can/should it be done?

I don't believe there are any twin-scroll T4 housings available for a HX35....just the HX40.

Hi Justin, I suspect the 14b on my Gvr4 is consuming oil, but it doesn't appear to have a lot of shaft play. If I rebuild that turbo, would it need to be balanced just because it was taken apart?

Not unless there's wheel damage or you're replacing one of the wheels. Mark the alignment of the nut / shaft / compressor and it'll be balanced every bit as good as it was when it was new.

Most 14B's that have never been serviced have reached the point where they're passing a bit of oil even though no shaft play is present. Years of constant hot/cold cycles on daily-driven vehicles have taken their toll on the turbine sealing ring and the rubber o-ring between the oil shield and bearing housing.
