Okie, got it with a new compressor wheel I need a new nut to go with it.

How about the turbine side? It also has been ground on (the head of the bolt) would I apply your teachings to that as well? Or does it only apply to the compressor side?

Do you have one or any idea where I can get the compressor cover O-ring for a 14B besides a dealership? Also, I should be able to change it while it's on the car right? Thanks

The turbine is one piece. If you find one without balance grinds, it hasn't been balanced.

No clue unless you know somewhere locally that sells individual o-rings in assorted sizes. You don't want to mail-order an o-ring.

Ahh, okie. Took me a bit. Turbine is ground to balance the turbine and shaft only. The nut on compressor is ground to balance assembly...

A few questions you may have already answered and I apologize up front if you have, I read thru a lot of pages of this thread and didn't see it.

Is it best to oil a 14b (say at 18psi of boost in my case) or any td05h turbo for that matter, from the head location with the stock line? I have an oil feed from the filter housing but don't want to damage my turbo due to too much oil pressure.

Also would a rebuild kit from g pop shop be a good choice if I ever need to rebuild a td05h?

Thanks!

If you already have the filter housing feed, buy or build a .070" restrictor and you'll be just fine.

Sure.

can I use a mbc on my 18g externally gated settup?
Sure- I'm curious as to why you feel this wouldn't work.

If one was seeking a 7 blade hx35 twin scroll setup, what turbine would be most advisable? Which turbine comes on the 7 blade stock? I though that the 12 was more than enough for maxing the 7 (60lbs/min) ? Thanks
Depends what manifold you're looking to use. Obivously a T3, but more specifically a single- or twin-scroll.

Hey Jus, I finally got around to pulling my 16g off my 1g a couple weeks ago since Ive known it had some serious play but continued to run it since I never had a replacement.. It still built boost and never smoked durning boost but could really tell it had a good amount of in and out play as well as up/down, side/side play.. Heres some pics, I just want to know if it would even be worth it to rebuild?

Back of the compressor cover. these are deep enough to grab a fingernail while running across it.

I measured the gap between the turbine with a feeler gauge. First with it all the way in. .009 then with it far out as it'd go .039 Now Im no expert but that seems like quite a bit of in and out play..

I rebuilt my big 16g it had a lot of in and out and no side to side. My compressor wheel was more messed up then yours but strangely the housing had very minimal damage.

I ordered my rebuild kit from TraderGreg and a new compressor wheel cleaned and rebuilt it absolutely tight no movement what so ever and boosts wonderfully.

So got a freshly rebuilt mhi big 16g for a total of $173 not a bad investment if I think so myself.

You'll lose a shitload of efficiency if you re-use the existing compressor because once you replace the thrust hardware there's going to be an additional .030" gap between the wheel and cover. It will still make boost, but it won't work like it should. If the car's a daily driver or something then this may be acceptable, but if you're going to be pushing the turbo you should replace the compressor.

I can't tell from the pics if your turbine rubbed the heat shield or not, but if it did then you may want to consider replacing the rotating assembly. Definitely don't re-use those parts without getting the assembly rebalanced and the shaft runout checked. If you want some replacement wheels, PM me.

I have a big 16g. I was told it was rebuilt. I let a buddy use and he told me it would randomly smoke and leak out from the compressor side. Their is also no in and out or side to side movement. Is it fixable? Also have a cxracing 16g started smoking after an oil change and never stoped. How would i go about fixing it?

Justin, can you tell me anything about a T3 .48a/r exh. housing on an hx35? I picked up a 7 blade and it came with this housing, is it too small? Could you give me any kind spool estimate? I already have looked around for info and it seems to be a garrett housing that was machined to fit. Will it spool faster than a .55 bolt on? Any info would help.

Itll spool it faster cause the volute is smaller but it's going to choke your airflow so the turbo wont nearly be as efficient as a .55 A/R bep

Sorry, as stated in the post just above yours I only have experience with the HX35 in Bullseye housings.

Obviously it's going to spool faster than any other T3 housing, but who knows whether it will be large enough for the compressor to generate any airflow.

I am tuning my 20g/06h/8cm turbo and i was wondering what optimal full spool time on this turbo would be. I feel like i am spooling slow but the tune is pig rich right now. Also wanting to know what the full potential flow its capable of. Thanks!
