I don't know if it's the same on the 7bolts but to use arp mains you need to cut the pick up suport because it doesn't mount like OE with arps.

Why not just enlarge the hole with a bit for the ARP Main Stud diameter??

That's what i've always done in the past...

Not sure how safe i'd feel for the pickup to be supported by those two bolts like that :hmm:..

That would be pretty sweat :sneaky:

LOL naw guys it's not ALex's shell but it is def in that caliber in my eyes. I don't want to say which one untill I have money down on it and it's secured as mine. But with this new shell I would be in business A LOT sooner than I planned. I would pretty much be a set of rods and a trans away from a running car.

There are guys that have been doing it for years it's safe. I thought about doing what you did but you have to not bottom out the arp studs so they stick up past the kiggly girdle and that didn't fly with me with a setup like this.

Hey Sean, can I ask that you continue this build "blog" via a true blog. We're transitioning everyone from posting build "threads" to build "blogs", since it's easier for people to follow along with. You're welcome to keep posting in this forum any time you have an update in your blog if you like. Thanks!

Here's the sticky about posting build blogs in this forum:
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/drag-strip/334687-dont-post-build-threads-post-build-blogs.html

Ok I"ll check out how to do the whole blog thing I have never been a fan but if the site is trying to transition i'll give it a shot.

We're in the early stages of the transition, but once we get through the next software upgrade, we'll have blog categories similar to the forum categories. One of those categories will be Project Cars/Builds, which will be stickied up at the top of this forum... I'm even planning on ways to make these blogs more visible through RSS feeds in a right column so that they get more exposure. Trust me, it's going to be much easier for people to follow along with your build that way. Trying to follow a build through a thread is a pain in the ass.

I sold the old shell to Teflon(John) a local around here who is going to be building it as a track car and I will help him out with that so I'm mot totally turning my back on that shell. The new shell is Casey's(Eagle Claw) old shell. He had a gt42r in it before and made 746whp then parted it out. It has a INCRDEIBLY clean body and the cage is second to none. It already has a chute mount and pltae along with lever interior and a manual steering rack which are all a HUGE plus in my book. They block Photobucket here at work but I will upload the pictures of the shell to here for you non dsmlink forum guys when I get home. You will see right off the bat why I went this route.

I doubt very many people dont know about, or havent seen Casey's car. Good find Sean. Hurry up fool!!!

Yeah trust me when this thing gets here(mind you I live in NJ and he's in Utah LOL) this project will go a lot faster.

Things that made me switch shells:

1: The S bar design after talking with a place called Tony's Motorcraft around here scares me. I saw the pictures of the car that rolled like 10 times and it bent the threw dash bars I could just imagine those S bars bending like twings. Granted it's easier to install cause you don't mess with the dash but I don't want easy I want safe...without compromise;)

2: Not only is the cage design better(threw the dash bars, rear struts are tied together, built in harness loop) the cage is already suited up with the chute mount plate and lever.

3: I saw a quote from coltboosting that said something along the lines of If I can't enjoy a car any time I want where ever I want it has no business in my garage. I looked at all this money and time I'm spending and the idea of only driving it in a straight line for 9 seconds at a time is good but I would want to run the streets causing chaos for muscle car guys and imports a like from time to time. My old shell would not have been able to do this with it's SUPER gutted interior.

4: Less important but still important, the paint on the new shell is already a sexy gloss black and just needs a good scrub and the car would look the part and be fast.

So in a nut shell getting the old shell to have all those things would cost a lot more to do then to pick this shell up. I am a do it yourself kind of guy but you have to be smart. People usually do it themselves because it's cheaper not just to say they did it(even though that's part of it)

ALl you need is pipe and a welder LOL. No serious it takes nothing at all all you need is a bung for you o2 sensor and pipe that bends to where you want to go out your front bumper and then your set. I was going to go out the front bumper anyway and now because of casey I already have the hole setup I just have to make the pipe.

Oh yeah and just when I thought my turbo setup could not get any heavier these mutant 38's finally showed up OMG

Yeah those are 38mm wategates. The heads look extra big to me but they are 38's. Yeah I told everyone once they saw the shell they would understand why I went this route, It is very clean and well setup for all the right parts.

Hmm... you got the 38mm wastegate to fit. Maybe an extra flanges or 2 will make it work for me if the JH Racing 44mm wastegates manifold and the 38mm manifold is the same model.
