Plastidipped my car.

ill take a video, also wonder how it looks on fiberglass fenders and hood?? ive got an 03 focus SVT that im putting F1 fenders on and an evo wannabe hood, and im planning on plastidipping the whole car afterwards. should be pretty nice, if i dont like it ill peel it off and just paint. the car is already black and murdered out so i dont think its gonna change much on the looks.

Dare I ask: How does it hold up to driving on gravel roads? I know most guys on here are completely opposed to touching any surface other than pristine asphalt with their dsm's but I love a good drive on a country back road every once in a while.

Also, has anyone used bondo on dents/dings before applying the plasti-dip? If so, how does it hold up in the area over the bondo? does it go on well and not show up on the top layer?

i would assume if your car was gray-pink like bondo it wouldn't show up... or you could just spray some rattle can paint, colored close to the rest of the car, let it completely fry/cure then spray plastdip
just ideas....

once i get my s10(4.3 extended cab :hellyeah:) i will plastidip the ### chrome grill and bumpers after i get my system and mahogany grant installed

I kind of want to do the lower half of my talon in the white plasti dip, and the top half in black, but earlier someone said something about the white being thinner and not working as well as the black.

Does anyone else have experience with using white plasti dip?

So, in person does this stuff look like a rattle can flat paintjob, all splotchy and crappy looking? Or is it actually smooth looking and the same color everywhere, not light in some spots and dark in others? Obviously the method of application matters, but assuming you get it right, how does it look in person?

Looks smooth all throughout if it is laid on thick enough even on the first coat. It's hard to get it wrong :thumb:

^^^ Looks like it turned out pretty well.

Has anyone experienced any problems with the plastidip yet? I attempted to do some lower window trims and they turned out like shit. Kind of orange peel looking. Full of tiny whole/pits. Anyone else get that? I tried several different cans, thinking i had a bad can maybe.

It won't. Buuut if I did remove the stuff on my bumper. Id only replace it with all the jdm logos for all the jdm parts in my dsm.

The video would consist of the basic peeling off process nothing special maybe 2 mins long.

Because your car that was built in Normal IN, and has a chrysler powerplant has anything to with jdm

those mad tyte JDM front bumper stickers yo?..... it's bad enough when a honda does on a front lip, but a whole DSM bumper and gas cap door is absurd.... at least you didn't go all rusted hood status....

the rest of the eclipse-neon looks good plasti dipped though

:ohdamn:

There is nothing JDM about your 'DSM' :nono:

Get off of that ricer Honda boy tip. Its becoming obnoxious and I am usually the first person to stand up for people who are being different or creative (as long as it involves it being tasteful)

Also, your next 'improvement' needs to be those horrid head lights. :(

Hah I was being sarcastic. Dsm isn't jdm. But if it was... jdsm standards would be in place to fall in line with what is socially accepted by the many not the few.

I sincerely apologize if my Eclipse-Neon offends anyone.

Plastidip complete.

So distrot by my hood not being perfect. I tested the durability of plastidip and let me tell you that stuff with hold up to a lot of pressure and abuse.

Hey dsmtuners I figured id share a process that may exsist already. I call "wet shaving". Basically the idea is to get a high pressure washer and while blasting at an angle, remove excess rubber from the plastidip you may have accidently sprayed too much. I did it to the whole hood and right now it looks like it worked! When it dries ill notify you all whether or not it was successful.

There was a definate and very noticable difference after "Wet shaving" not only did it remove a TON of the excess. It also made almost all of the surface I plastidipped around the car even. I'm going to wetshave again in a few hours to finish off the hood and front fenders and finally the roof to match the hatch.

I don't use cleaning solutions on my plastidip paintjob, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or ideas. Or actually tests they've done.

I've been thinking about tire shine.

Im so attempt to go crazy with this has anyone else use this in other colors or even nore parts inside.:D Has anybody try to do this underneath the car.

If they made it in blue I would try some on interior parts inside the car. I'm not sure if plastidip would hold up as an undercoating, because of the massive amounts of debris kicked up from the road.

However I did do the inside of my wheel wells with plastidip to remove that grimy off-tan that builds up. It gave a nice showroom black inside there. Ill post pics to show how its been holding for the past few rainy days.

I have a very big question to ask. How heavy did the ppl who have plastidipped something or another on their car, spray the plastidip?
