i know this is old... but if your paint has still held up this long i gotta see it.

Did mine back in october, still holding up strong and this car has plowed snow drifts higher than itself, been washed a few times, always sit out in the weather.

just a heads up, my tsi was primered when i bought it, and the primer either was super old or cheap or spray paint primer, well the thing was that everytime i would wash it, the primer kept coming off, so i decided to try plastic dip as a temporary solution, cause it would make the car look better and it will prevent the primer to keep coming off. welllllll after a few months i wouyld say maybe 4 months of having the plastic dip, i decided to get the car a real paint job ( yesterday), and OMFG!!! plastic dip stuck to the primer real bad, i tried peeling it off and it was tiny tiny pieces, so i had to sand down the whole car with 120grit sand paper , and even then it still took about 3 days to peel about have the car LOL, so my cousin paints cars and works in a body shop, i just handed the car to him and decided to pay a little bit extra to ave it professionally done.

like i said i dont know if it was because i sprayed it over primer or what, but becarful using this stuff. i would hate for someone to use it on a car wih decent paint, then have to strip the whole car down cause plastic dip stuck go to their car.

Yes. I never got to post my horrible experiance with peeling off plastidip.

If you do not spray even heavy coats of this stuff on primer or a sanded preped surface. It will take alot to peel it off. This stuff is supposed to be easy on easy off, but it took a 3800psi pressure washer to take off 75% of it and the other 25% I had to wet sand with a rust remover pad and my drill. and it was still a PITA to come off. That was my GS btw.

Now if you spray heavy even coats of it on a non preped surface the plastidip will peel off super easy. Strange huh?

I dont think I'll use plastidip onmy new GSX

Not weird. Primer was designed to promote adhesion. And a rough surface will also promote adhesion.

An untouched factory paint finish is smooth and gives little for the plastidip to grab on to.

Instead of doing plastidip which is $$$ get a $15 hvlp gun from harbor freight ($10 with coupon) and 3qts of valspar latex paint from home depot/Lowes ($10 per qt) and some paint thinner ($5). Dilute the paint at a 4:1 ratio and spray. Its cheaper and it'll peel off like plastidip.

Plastidip does not require surface prep outside of a clean surface. it adheres to whatever.

i was justs posting my situation, im just glad im gettin the car painte, and if i ever use plastic dip again it would be on stuff like mouldings and stuff like that, never would i spray a body panel again LOL

I feel you on that. Too much of a hassle. And it can get messy.

Here's mine painted the car last year around June and still holding up fine.

That is one nice looking 1G. Almost a whole year and it looks that good! How have you been washing just normal? I was a fan of pressure washing but its not the best idea.

Thank you she's came a long way, But I do both pressure wash it and hand wash it and I have never had a problem with it coming off or anything. The car sat through snow and ice this year and it's still holding up just fine.
Here's pics of the car before the plastidip.

I did swap the full car over to a 2gb talon with 2ga talon skirts.

I did the rear seat belt guides since there is no belts in the back of the spyder any more

got them all back on the car now. They look so much better of the takata green. I will have them powder coated when I need to buy new tires some time but the tires dont have many miles on them so at least a few summers left.
