Plastidipped my car.

It looks like there's some texture, but overall looks ok. What did you spray with cans, compresser and gun, or electric sprayer? If you take some naphtha or xylene thinner put it on a micro fiber rag and gently drag it across the surface it will get rid of most of it, but you would have to do another coat.

May be picking up a 1g here soon. If so, definitely plastidipping. It looks real nice and seems easy to do.

Question for the guys who have done the Plasti-Dip thing.

Hypothetically speaking of course...

Lets say one wanted to plasti-dip his wheels in red, but wanted the red to be less flat and more bright/glossy. Could one plasti-dip the wheel, let it dry of course, and then put a layer or two of glossy paint on top to give it that brighter color, YET still retain the peal away capabilities.

Over all idea.
- plasti-dip wheel
- 1 or 2 coats of brighter color on top
- possibly peal off later for color change

If this has been answered I apologize.

Dipyourcar.com did a video on this before. They put regular clear coat over plasti-dip. It made it shinier, but it was flakier and harder to peel off. They do make a glossifier now that you can spray over the plasti-dip to give it a shine. Check out these guys. They have everything for plasti-dip.

I plasti dipped my green car because I was sick of my clearcoat mess and I didn't want to drop big money on a new paint job. Used three gallons of white and bought a bottle of the pre dip spray. After seeing how it turned out I'm planning on buying one more gallon of white and a gallon of the glossifier to make it easier to clean. Also did my rims which took two cans of black from Home Depot. Here's some pics.

you should have gotten your wheels static balanced (wheel weights on the inner side of your rim) because the next time you get your wheel balanced your going to have to respray those rims again, and if you haven't removed plastidip before, your not going to enjoy it. its alot of work. but they look good all the same.:thumb:

Plastidip is not hard to remove at all, it peels right off if you sprayed it right. 4-8in away, have got at least 4 coats, and prepped with rubbing alcohal. Comes off easy once you start. I'm going to be a authorized installer for dyc, and I've done enough dip jobs to know!

I like the way it looks. Like I mentioned I'm not done yet, still gonna do another gallon so four coats or so and then some gloss. After that I'm gonna peel it 100% and then do my door and window trim in black. I peeled most of the rest from around the windshield after the pics though.
