For anyone wondering how to take care of medium sized areas (grapefruit size) that have been damaged, like say someone or something scuffed the corner of your Plastidipped bumper thus ruining the smoothness of the coating
, all you need to do is:
-Take a razor blade and cut around the scuffed up area and peel it off.
-Make sure the area is cleaned before you spray a new coat with some soap and water. (Simple Green in this case would not be advised as it seems to prevent the Plastidip from settling/adhering correctly)
-Then lightly spray several coats of Plastidip over the damaged area and try to match the surrounding Plastidipped areas as best you can.
You might be able to tell that the repaired area may be a bit darker or smoother than the rest of the area, but if you can live with it then your all set!
Make sure to just TAKE YOUR TIME!
***NOTE***
Now mind you I did this (using a razor to cut away the damaged section) because the first time I just sprayed over the damaged area with no prep work,it looked like crap, plus I didn't care about damaging the paint underneath my layer of Plastidip (I previously rattle canned my car Olive Green) so if you care about the paint underneath it or might someday revert back to the original color, do not attack it with a razor blade!!!
Additionally, I want to revise/add onto my original post ( http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/hangout/382882-plastidipped-my-car-12.html#post152593256 ) on how to wash your Plastidipped car:
-Make a mixture of 1 part Simple Green to 4 parts Water in a bucket.
-Use a Microfiber Cleaning Sponge (blue and yellow ones sold at Walmart work brilliantly, $2 each and are machine washable).
-For washing my car I also had a sprayer attachment (Shower, jet, angle spray, etc.) on my garden hose.
-Park your car in the shade or somewhere where the sun will not hit your car when doing this to avoid excessive water spotting.
-Spray one section at a time (starting with the roof) with water and dunk the sponge into your bucket of Simple Green and Water mix, then ring it out over the area your cleaning and scrub well enough so as to get the grime and dirt off but not so hard as to do any damage to the Plastidip. (its strong but can peel if you scrub too viciously)
-Then hose off whatever suds are left and let it dry.
-Repeat the process for the rest of the car, preferably your washing as your going from the top down.
