Today I replaced my coil pack. After putting everything together and going over it twice I noticed a ticking sound. After checking numerous things I squeezed the hose to the Pcv valve and the noise stopped. What could that be? Is that normal?
Now it seems to ride a lot smoother (also also, forgot to mention, I cleaned the throttle body, replaced the gasket), seems to run a lot better/smoother but when I step on the gas I notice a hissing sound(passenger side), I think it could be a vacuum leak, but I checked all the lines. Any thoughts? I did see a forum for a similar problem but nobody gave an explanation. Also my idle when in neutral coming to a stop sometimes sits around 1500 rpm until I come to a complete stop. Any suggestions/?,s/comments would help., Thanks:dsm:
Sincerely Newbie :idontknow::ohdamn:

It sounds like a leak in there somewhere. Under the battery there's a charcoal canister. Some vacuum hose run down there. They could be easy to miss if your just doing a visual. Blt

Will do, need to check egr valve as well. just read about the evap in the manual, looks to be a long process., but could contribute to poor idle.? Do u happen to know if they sell these vacuum guages, or maybe a diiferent way 2 check if the egr valve(n other hoses r good/bad).?
The pcv valve stopped making all that clicking noise(don't know if good/bad). I looked behind the manifold, looks pretty rough back there though. The throttle body was really dirty, n the gasket fell to pieces when I took it off!OMG
Thanks for the suggestion.:dsm:

A boost leak test will detect any leak there is. Vacuum Hose and all. I would change out the PVC valve as we'll. It's like 6 or 7 bucks and takes 3 min to swap. You could remove the egr and apply vaccum to it. Make sure it opening and sealing properly. If it's gunked might as well clean it while it's out. Behind the tb there's a bunch of connections for vaccum hoses, that's really tricky spot to find a leak but if you do a blt just spray some soapy water back there to detect them. It will definitely mess with your idle.

Yeah it's a 420a(thought I filled it out):beatentodeath:
Anyway, I'm gonna be doing a journal here soon., as well as looking, n researching other ones.:aha:
I've done nothing but pure maintenance since I've got this car., n today after letting sit awhile. This car almost(almost), feels like a very strong car., No more weird idle, running strong! Except the hiss I hear from the passenger side. Makes me :hellyeah:, cause I feel like I did a lot of good stuff, without skipping to pure mods., n a paint job.
I bleed silver n black, n I can't stand the creamsicle orange., I stick out like a fat chick, in booty shorts during bike week.OMG
Except for a few minor issues, I've fixed almost everything, n taking this project into some sort of OCD trip, I can't stop!:aha:
So therefore, I hear every little creak, n tick, n bump.
I am getting off topic, should be writing in journal. :nono:
So what I've got an issue w/ is the hiss(vacuum leak?), idk. Guess I'll check it out tomorrow), as far as a check valve, I'll check out the link, n do some more research.:thumb::dsm:

It sounds like it's not a really hard fix, all you need to do is isolate the hissing sound, hold a piece of new vacuum line up to your ear, and hold the other end over any suspected hoses, if any of them hisses a lot, it's likely the culprit.

It could also be a dirty or clogged pcv you can try and clean it with carburetor or brake parts cleaner, or it could be a missing clamp on a vacuum line, inspect all the vacuum lines thoroughly for cracks or loose connections.

Also do a check of the fuel injector o rings, you don't want those to leak...
