Ahh you guys are being a little hard on the bench racing Q. Me personally there is a average range on what to expect for a bench mark. I have seen 20g turbo members on 20 psi produce higher hp than members with T3 turbos more mods and a 2.4l swap on 30 psi. For a good awnser to members asking this question is to tell them what is a potential high and give them the stock 1/4 mile times and direct them to search other members on here for the dyno numbers and 1/4 times.

That's why we don't allow bench racing on our forums, because it's impossible to know how fast a car is on the track or how much power it would put down on a dyno. :applause:

Still though Brian, I'd like to see the 20g turbo setup running 20psi putting down more power than the "t3 turbos, more mods, and 2.4l swap on 30psi" setup you saw.

I was wondering what horse power numbers I should be seeing out of my build it goes as follows.

Engine
Kelford 272s
Kiggly racing dual valve spring a retainers
Stock valves
Three angle valve job
Ross 8:5 to 1
Manley h beams
Stock crank
All acl race bearings
Arp rod and main bolts
L19 headstuds

Turbo
Hx40 8 with .55 ar housing around 35 psi

Tuning
ECM link with speed Denisty

Fuel
Dual Walbaro intake 255
Fic blue max 1850s

Just looking to see what you guys think my numbers will be and if you have any suggestions on better parts. Just let me know thanks!!

I would say you would be lucky to be around 500whp. Those kelfords and that small turbine housing are going to work against each other. You would probably make more horsepower with smaller cams unless you decided to go with the .70 a/r housing and a smim. Then I could see getting close to 600whp. If I remember correctly the 8 blades flow about 10lbs/min less than the 6 and 7. So I think they are only rated at around 60lbs/min.
 
My bad it was a small 25g but it was not on 20 psi it was on 18 psi.

It also all depends on how hard this guy wants to push his car. Are you willing to redline? What fuel do you want to run? I would Compressor and turbine map your setup homie before running 35 pounds of boost. Also people need to realise a car with more hp on the same drivetrain isnt always going to put off better times than a car on less hp on the same drivetrain. You have to consider the fact of how fast your turbo spools, how balanced your hp is you dont want a lot of highend hp and not have any low end to back it up. A balanced engine is going to be best.

So my friend and I were driving through town and some guys in a riced out Honda civic wanted to race. Anyhow in the end I just said lets race next week. SSOOOO... He has a k&n air filter, magnaflow muffler, boost controller, stock injectors, stock ecu, no tuning, rebuilt stock motor except heat coated pistons with 50xxx miles, fmic, greddy bov, after market boost gauge, and a gm maf with translator. What boost could we safely set it at (currently at 10 psi) to whoop some Hondas! The Honda has a turbo with only 8 psi and the rest is almost all stock except intake and exhaust. It is gutted though... Thanks dsm'ers!!! :hellyeah:
 
Well, How to put this?? First, you should NOT be racing illegally PERIOD. Second, How much are you running and what is he running safety? Is he running top or bottom end power? Then you can ask WHAT advantages do you have, what are you running? Then afterwards----> Take it too the track and get some!
 
We are racing at the track this weekend... Both of us have just street tires and the gm maf and translator is not on the honda... its on our car.
 
Get a video .If the honda beats you ...Go to driving school learn to drive ...also are you fwd or awd ?

Bringing my car out for the first time at the drag strip (Ive raced countless other cars) never dynoed this thing but it is very fast at digs, judging by mods im guessing low 13s what do you all think?

I was thinking and hoping somewhere in the 300awhp area and low 12's?

This car is my first build so I'm not very good at knowing what combination such as turbo size, psi and other factors to come up with a round about estimate.
 
Okay you can view my profial for mods list, but what I did was ported the head, bored the block to a 2.3L strocker. Upgraded to gates timing belt, brand new wiseco pistons, BC 272 cams, BC springs and retainers (already had the cams springs and retainers), eagle rods, mitsubishi truck crank, 1250cc injectors.

I am waiting for my pistons to come in I was running 28 psi, just wondering what I should expect as far as fuel management, boost, two step launch (was set at 4k). I plan on making some adjustments. Roughly how much HP should I expect to gain?
 
So Iv been checking the upgrade paths and they show ballpark figures of what horse you would be putting down if you do all/most of the those upgrades.

Im wondering specifically which mods produce what sort of horse power increase. I know that most upgrades play upon one and other, but im looking for some general figures of what sort of gains are to be expected over stock.

Big 16g. FMIC, 3" exhaust no cat, Air Intake, Blow off, porting exhaust mani?
 
:tease: this guy.....LOL. True Numbers cannot be Counted in your head or paper, as much as we would like that to be. Put the bolt-on's and see what you really get! Reality will soon :ohdamn: your head and if I were to go for a number, 245-65 maybe.....

I will bite and be nice about it, the reason it gives ballpark figures is because all mod will yield different results given different mods. Going from a stock exhaust on a fully prepped race car to a full 3+" exhaust is going to net more gains then a stock car going from stock size to 3+" exhaust. Really no one can give very accurate results, only good educated guesses.
