No spark, T belt Chewed up

I was driving my car and everything was fine until I started to hear whining noise and it started vibrating. All of this was coming from the engine, RPM dependent. I turned off the car to check it and noticed coolant leaking and I pulled the cam cover off and my T-Belt is chewed up but not broken. I checked for spark and got nothing. I was thinking that maybe the balance shaft belt broke and wiped out my crank sensor. Correct me if I'm wrong doesn't the crank sensor control spark and the cam senor control the injectors. Any thoughts or advice on what could've happened would be much appreciated. I will be pulling the timing cover off in a day or two to further investigate.

How long ago was the timing belt installed?

Two years ago, It was done right before I got the car. Never had any timing issues with it. Actually besides the trans blowing up this is the first time it broke down on me. It has been pretty damn reliable, I guess cause I keep up with it. I didn't touch anything recently. Crank pulley separated almost a year ago, and besides that just oil changes and little things.
