Would my single wally 255hp support a set of 1150cc injectors up to 100% IDC on E85???

I'm planning my next upgrade, and from what i've run so far i believe 1150's would do.

Can anyone elaborate on the issues that you hear about with 1600's? I've heard they are inconsistant in flow, if that's the case how bad is it?

Yes and no

A 255HP intank will not flow enough by itself. There are a few tricks that will allow it to flow as much as possible.

1) Lower Base Fuel Pressure (The lower the pressure the higher volume the pump will flow) Also note that the lower the pressure the lower volume the injectors will spray). There is a happy median that you must play with.

2) At idle you will find that your Alternator may put out 13.7V to the pump (even after a rewire). The problem is at full boost, voltage will probably drop to 12.9 or 13.1V. No way a 255HP is going to provide enough flow for the 1150's at 13.0V.

3) Boost-A-Pump = 17.5V YES!! Now your 255HP will happily provide the flow you need to support the 1150's. Please don't believe the "your fuel pump will die quickly at 17V" crap on the internet.

Inconsistant in flow? Who told you that? Not true. More internet crap.

1600's are the only DSM injectors that FIC sells that are not "Ball & Seat" injectors. Instead they are Pintle Injectors which are completely different. Without any technical crap, they idle rougher and hesitate slightly during cruising conditions. I've gotten used to it and it doesn't bother me anymore. On gasoline it will make the hesitation even worse, but with Ethanol, it's barely noticable since the IDC are higher.

ALL THE ABOVE IS FROM MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCES. NOT INTERNET HEARSAY.

WEll, the main thing that's going to keep me from 1600' is the fact that i still plan on running pump gas on long drives or when i can't get e85.

That's partially why i was thinking 1150's since they would suppr around 500hp on e85 and still have good enough control for a nice lean pump gas tune under cruising conditions

Last night while studying what i would have to do to have it "switchable" to pump and e85, i found that there's a few things in my way... By IAT's i onlty have 13% fuel trim ability, by coolant temp i can only add fuel (plus this would make it iomposible to start when cold if used for the function)

So now it comes down to changing maps for each gas. Now i'm trying to figure out the smallest easiest type of computer i can get that's around 233mhz and has a DB9 port in the back. Is there any palms that would run DOS and have a DB9????

TurboGlenn just get the 1150s. I think they will be enough with the right fuel pressure/ pump setup and braided lines. Perhaps even an upgraded rail would help; and didnt you say you were going to down grade your turbo anyways for something smaller.

I only plan on getting the new fiulter and line to the rail. I think the stock rail will be fine along with the stock lines.. I may not down grade turbos at this point, but i am looking for a solid 425-450hp on the street at all times with the E85 and it's extra grunt in th etorque curve i maybe able to keep this turbo. The motor also seems more rev happy and it doens't sound as stressed when cruising at 5500 RPM.

Well, i gotta run, be back on later

Man I will have my injectors soon, cant wait to run some e85. Your making me all jealous.

You won't regret it trust me on that one :D

A little story for ya: I was driving on a "closed course" today and there was a newer vette behind me at a stop(probably an 06). I turned on my LED license plate bracket which reads "two liter vette eater" and it was on! We got way out ahead of the rest of the pack and i slowed down and was in 2nd humming along at 5500 RPM... I get in and out of it a few times and he bit. As he got to my door from being back behind me i could tell he was already starting to get on it before i would have a chance ot get dead even with him.. AS i saw his face, i nailed it, straight to 8k the tack went and as i grabbed third i was having some serious fun. about midway through third i looked back and he was done for. I let off and began coasting down to see if he'd want to chat...not a chance, he wouldn't even look over at me.

It's not like we went for a full good run, but i felt great, he felt like he wasted 50 grand i guess. This isn't the first time i've had similar runs, but not feeling the confines of boost and timing due to pump gas is great, I can run like i do on C16 all the time now and that's a great thing!

Has anyone else noticed E85 going up? I got my third tank today and it was up to 3.01 , the last tank was 2.92 and the first tank was 2.79... When i askked the store clerk the idiot said,... "it's just like all gas, it's going up because of the price of oil"... I jsut shook my head and paid the bill.

Just filled up today for $2.49!

Man the gas stations here in omaha just think they can F@#K everyone over on gas. So far i've only found that ONE station to get E85 at. No wonder they can keep raising the prices WTF

Who sells the dual pump hangar for a FWD 2g? i want to add some 1150's and an extra 255 here soon.

Which one did you use? THe 044 or 255? I have a 255hp in the tank already, but would like to make sure i never run low on fuel.

Yea e85 does go up with gas. If gas goes up so does the e85, and im not sure why, maybe its the little gas they add to it. Even when it does go up its still cheaper than gas. We where at 2.19 the other day and now we are at 2.39. Not bad when premium is 3.59 right now here.

I just put another 255 inline. Hopefully i won't run out anytime soon.

I need to get with you and check out your setup. You available any time this week? I'll be gone to compete in a motorcycle stunt competition all weekend, but i'm free all week so i can practice and get my game up before the weekend. THis long winter killed my circle wheely combos :(

I went out today and smoothed the tune out a bit and played with seeing how far i could push the injectors by them selves without the aid of methanol injection.

I ended up hitting 100% IDC at 6700rpm and right and 23psi while seeing 12.5 - 12.7:1 AFR's The car is still a rocket, but now i'm sadly getting use to 24psi :( Now i can't even bare to turn it down to below 20.... There was a time when even 15psi still felt fast for my car, but after 2 tanks of corn powered 24psi pulls i'm ruined for life in terms of being able to deal with lower boost settings :LOL

Yeah, i should be free sometime this week. You have my number right?

Yeah man, i need some injectors too. I'm hittings 80%IDC on 950's on 20psi with the 3052 at 11.5:1. I don't think they are gonna take me to the 30psi I want to run. I could lean it out to around 12:1 i think and get a little wiggle room, but probably not enough.:|

I lost your number, i had too many that were labeled "from, forums" that i couldn't keep track of who was who anymore nad cleaned up my phone book.

What's the flow in lb/min at that psi on the 3052?. I was hoping to get away with some 1150's but i don't want to have them at 100%IDC either. Maybe i'll jsut got with 1600 since they cost the same as 1150's, but i would prefer to have somehting smaller for the times i want to run a really low pulsewidth on pump fuel

I'll text you, i have yours still. I am seeing right around 37-38 lb/min at 20psi on the 3052. I think I'm just gonna throw some 1600's in and be done with it, however i don't plan on ever putting pump gas in again either...

Cool, be sure to put your name in the text so i can save it and know who it is. I had way too may screen names + numbers to where i was getting confused.

I feel ya on teh 1600's.. Originally i had planned on running e85 every once in a blue moon. Now it's pump gas that i doubt will see it's way into my tank very often. It's amazing how fast you can get hooked on E85 LOL It's like crack for your car i say LOL LOL

At this point i figure as long as i can get away with running 92 pump only when needed i'll be a happy camper. Aside from keeping my AC, i'm to the point now where i think i'd rather turn the eclipse into a gutted street/strip ride and get something else for DD duties so that i don't have to worry about a "balance" between a street friendly car and all out acceleration.

Now i just wonder how much ET i could drop by gutting the entire car, save for the dash and all interior forward of the front seats *dont know*

The E85 has made the thought of a full on strip duty car more of a reality than before, seeing how instead of 6+ dollars a gallon for a "mandated fuel" i can get it for right around 3 or less. It makes the trade off of rattles and vibrations well worth it after feeling the raw acceleration that can be had on a budget tighter than a street car :D

425-450 is reasonable.

Stop crying at least its an option for you. I have to drive almost 300 miles to get to the nearest E85 pump.

Thats how I feel, I take a spin in my bros car with a 16g at 24-28psi and my car is just slow now.

This my friend is the bad part.
The higher i raise my boost the more annoyed I am with the cars performance on a lower boost...

I wish i wouldve never got used to running 23-24 lbs because 20lbs is so pointless to me that im not entertained at all. I dropped my car off at the paint shop for its paint job today and I always turn the boost wayyyy down and unplug my electric cutout anytime im away from my car ( dont trust people) and i went full throttle at 10lbs and almost fell asleep on the way there...

I guess because the goal is to never go slower...
