New Shootout 2026 scramble!

COMPLETED a tear down and complete restoration of my dream GSX. Always wanted the A87 paint code and I finally have the perfect "rust free" base to start with.

So a buddy of mine hit me with an idea may get a second eclipse for this LOL. So hear it is make the first lifted off-road baha eclipse in Tucson AZ. Only thing is I have no idea if it is theoretically possible. Any thoughts on this guys. Good or bad idea? Even some criticism wouldn't be a bad idea I'll take anything at this point pros and cons.

It has actually been done a few times from what I have seen. Every once in a while, pics will float around showing someone lifting one so it's definitely possible. I mean, with enough money and time, anything is possible haha.

That was the one thing I hated the most about rear mounting my alternator. Beautiful build.
Sorry for the late reply! Thank you man and yeah it does kinda suck, but after the two times I have done it now I feel like it would be way faster from now on. Hopefully its not a regular thing I have to do though obviously haha.

Small update, I was not able to get the lip on in time for shootout and finally got it on today. Took a few to decompress from the race and now starting to work on little things here and there. Still need to put more miles on the clutch but that will come soon. For now just did the lip and re-treated the vent box filter.

Debating on cutting the rest of the bumper out in the front for the large front mount. More to come soon.

More “small” things here and there. Got the new volk metalcraft sway bar spacers installed so the sway bar fits straight in the toe arm. Also got the dss rear axles and upgraded hubs installed finally.

Had to send my s90 TB back out to be re-built again. Having an issue with it sticking slightly open and causing a high idle. It was driving my absolutely insane so during the down time I sent it back out.

go with the RMR throttle body over the s90. youll love it, i just picked one up

Very small update. The weather has turned bad very quickly here and winter seems to be here in full effect already. So all I was able to get done was swap out the water for anti-freeze since I do plan to start the car every week and also don’t want to crack the block. Also threw on the sweet oem mitsu cover and she is on the side of the garage for now.

So with the move and bad weather I have not really been able to do much on the car. Finally got around to installing the toe lock bolts/brackets in preparation for a professional suspension tune. Buuuut then it snowed its butt off again so she is still stored in the garage. Hoping to knock out the new clutch once the move is finished and the weather breaks. Move to come soon.

Also have my attention elsewhere too…..

Oh I plan to do it one of these days LOL I can say I know I will be the only one in Tucson that has one LOL

Soooooo , been forever since I have posted an update. Not HUGE progress would say, but def changed some things.

Biggest change was swapping out the clutch/flywheel. Found why I was still slipping above 7-8k rpm that’s for sure.

Think it got hot?

Also, found why I was not able to boost past 27ish psi which is gate pressure.. so ordered all AN line and fittings to heat sleeve as well.

One line is burned through and the one in my hand is gate pressure and it’s not even connected and burned all the way to a shriveled little guy.

ALSO, while everything was off found this tiny leak that never dropped but was still leaking. SLOWLY working out all the little things from a new build, but realized I brought a total turd to shootout last year hahaha.

Not sure I've seen this. How do you have an oil filter sticking straight down?

Running the evo 9 ofh so gives you the oil cooler ports and also has two ports for the oil dummy light as well as the aem gauge sensor. Also places the filter facing down like the mighty max setup.

I thought it was more forward. Oddly....I guess I've never seen one installed.

Nice. Can you do me a favor if possible? Can you measure the distance from the oil pan to the filter for me if possible? Trying to see if that filter housing will clear my Racefab pan. Thank you.

Sorry I missed this post! Yeah I will 100% get you a measurement tonight after work.

So from the closest part (the hump) of the oil pan to the edge of the oil filter is approx 2.5". Hope this helps man.
Yes, thank you. I don't think it's gonna fit unfortunately. Damn it.

I wonder if running a smaller filter would give enough clearance. I'm trying to avoid running a distribution block for the sensors and turbo feed and an Evo housing would be perfect which someone is now producing a billet copy.

The oem 2g filter is more narrow than the 1g oil filter, i run the 1g one on my 2g for more filterization, believe part number ends in 16

I know my friend. I'm not sure I want to run a smaller filter just so I can use the down facing Evo filter housing with the Racefab pan even if it's possible because of that. Although it would make it convenient, not having to use an oil distribution block. I could also have Racefab make another pan but that would be expensive.

Well, it’s been a slow summer for updates but have finally been finishing up small things here and there I have been putting off. Changed the oil for the third time on the break in and tied in the oil cooler and accumulator. Not excited about having to use 8qts for every oil change now, but hoping the accumulator does it job and never have an oil pressure issue.

Also got off my butt and installed the carbon door panels. Now this was a pain LOL. They of course are not direct bolt on and of course using them with a carbon door that’s not a perfect fit makes it even more challenging, BUT got it wrapped up.

Still needs a slight bit of trimming and tweaking but the hard part is done.

Get your pull fan on! and you can switch to a streight hose end, and eliminate that low hanging 90deg fitting.
