I just replaced my manifold for an FP cast version and after I put everything on my turbo is now whining like a supercharger and isn’t building anything past 3 psi.

I’ve checked for leaks and cracks, compressor wheel spins freely without play. Please help.

Picture of your engine bay and any supporting information on your new setup please.

Before the manifold update was everything normal?
Yes everything was normal before nothing new on the setup just the manifold

Do you or did you have the fire ring between the turbo and the manifold?
That should be eliminated. Did you check the wastegate actuator where it connects to the flapper?

I’m betting the actuator isn’t connected to the flapper. I bought my car like that, same issue.

Sounds like a major boost leak. What did you boost leak test to?
Seems like it runs too well for a leak that big. Whatcha think Jason?
I can't see the actuator and flapper from the pic. Forgot to connect it possibly.

Checked how? If you say visual that's not good enough. At least grab the pipes and pull. Better still boost leak test. In this instance it's obvious the install caused the problem so anything you touched during the process is suspect. Wastegate, piping, bolts etc. If you touched it then..... look at it, shake it, test it etc. Guessing you will find an obvious problem.

No fire ring and yes I have checked the waste gate

I might have just found the issue and somehow my alternator nut fell off and the belt is mis aligned idk why this would cause my boost to cap out at 3 though? 🤔

It wouldn't. Sounds coincidental.

Did you stuff rags into anything? Forget to remove?

Obstruction in the turbine housing? That was wide open if all you pulled was the manifold. Maybe something fell in (and you got lucky).

Car looks to be on SD, it won't care if there's a big leak.

That's why I asked what it was "leak tested" to, most people's idea of a boost leak test is looking and feeling the clamps then saying, yup all is good.

So again, what did you boost leak test it to?

I missed that

Boy we've seen that too many times.

I found the issue out even more than I had before. I did the test with a smoke machine found no leaks however, when taking it to my tuner it happened not to be the alternator but the balance shaft went out making that noise and the no boost was in fact because the waste gate valve not working correctly, being hella loose. Thank you everyone for the input

A smoke machine is nice but it doesn't replace a proper boost leak test.

Glad you got it figured out.

Balance shafts generally don't "go out." I've seen a few catastrophic failure but they are immediately known and generally take other stuff out also.
Please elaborate.

I mentioned wastegate more than once. What exactly was it?
