Megan Racing: Updated AWD Downpipe and Catback! (3in.) Opinions?

IM surprised no one with a 2g MR downpipe installed has commented. That hangar does bolt up to one of the rubber mounts. Take the bolt out of the rubber mount, then the circular piece inside the rubber. Slip a bolt and nut combo on there and it will fit up nice and snug.

There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding the 2g AWD catback..it's even having Megan Racing a little confused. Somehow a few people already have a prototype 2g AWD catback installed. Megan is about 45 mins away from me, and I'm in contact with them often. They don't have a clue how these people got the catbacks. Anyway, I got an email today saying that the 2g AWD catback is complete and it's gonna get fitted to my car late this week or next week then it will be released to be sold. I can't vouch for those people that already have or have ordered the 2g AWD catback from the above store since according to Megan they haven't made any for sale just yet, who knows. I'll take pics of it, even though someone else already did a few posts back.

i never said we carried the CATBACKS. i have a prototype that was given to speed factor and i had bought it off Marti back in december. I talked to Jose at megan and he said they gave speed factor that prototype and they were not suppose to sell it. Like i said in prior posts the 2g awd DOWNPIPES are the only part of the exhaust thats completed and released by Megan as of now.

actually no u are correct. i personally know someone who said they ordered the downpipe and catback from megan directly as they said to him that the catbacks were done. He has a receipt and everything. i guess hes getting the package maybe tomorrow but i am skeptical as i have the same info u have and i talk to Jose from Megan daily online.

My question is how is there so many prototypes of the new version? I take it im not the only one.

I have the 2.5" recirculated prototype, they're also gonna make a dump, and that prototype should be here soon.

I'm with you, I don't have a clue how there are so many prototypes.

they are not in production. there are a handful of preproduction ones around. I have one and beau has one that i know of.

what i meant to ask about the test pipe was that if I just purchased it to put on any other exhaust system. It says its only for the 1G, say I have a turboback right now with a 3" hf cat. If I buy that test pipe that says its only for the 1g fit on my 2g?

Why are you guys trying to rush this? This company has larger priorities then just this catback. If you rush the job then they are going to put out a crap product. You will already be getting a good price but damn let them work. Am I alone on this? If you need something so bad that you cant wait then get something else. I'm with you on this one. Yes megan racing exhaust is cheaper compare to apexi gt which is SS. They are taking their time because they want to make it right before they release their item so they wont have issue. So let's give them a break.

As said before the company has priorities. They could care less if its out before whatever race season. There really isnt a high demand for new performance parts for the dsm. Yes they are still popular but there are alot more cars out now that still need R&D besides our 5-10 year old cars.

Hey guys I have the full exhaust from Megan Heres some pics:

I just talked to Jose at Megan Racing and they will be on back order till sometime in early April.
Let me tell you though the quality of these are hands down the best ive seen. And Ive been around dsms since 96. It is all computer mandrel bent and the welds were also computer controlled. The exhaust fitment is perfect. I can not say for the downpipe yet because the motor is out but the catback fit perfect. Also they give you all the gaskets and bolts to install it.
I will be modifying the downpipe slightly by welding on a vband 3in piece on the top for my custom 02 that we will be fabricating. Other than that though this thing is what 99% of you need. two thumbs up!!!

Heres a list of what megan has specifically for the dsms:
1g catback fwd, awd
2g catback fwd, awd
2g catbypass downpipe fwd, awd
1g downpipe fwd, awd
1g resonator test pipe (needed to complete the full exhaust) fwd, awd
DSM T3 exhaust manifold
95-99 short shifter
95-99 Aluminum Pulley set (I think its a complete set ill have to ask) stock sized

and of course the 95-99 coilovers. I was told by MEgan that they are using the same coilovers for all 95-99 models and that the spring rates are a little weird for the gsx. However I can get custom spring rates 2kg higher or lower than the 14kg fronts and 6kg rears that will match the shock stiffness. I am thinking 8kg for the rear would do better. They can do this for a small fee i am told. If u have them already they will just send u the springs to swap out. We will be trying these out on the car as well.

That was misinformation on my part and I appologize. I received information that was not correct from Megan. There are only one or two people that actually know whats going on there and it took me a few phone calls to get the correct info. So no I am not a lier. Just misinformed by the source like the rest of you.

Might be a little off topic, but it has to do with the quality of m.r. exhausts, my friend has a catback from them on his 04 galant, and when i put it on i was extremely impressed with the craftsmanship and quality. Fitment was also flawless, i also have a friend with a catback from m.r. on his 02 civic, same deal. I recomend these to anyone who wants a great exhaust for a great deal.

I agree. I have the turboback on my 1g and the fitment and quality is awesome. Plus not to mention it has a nice deep throaty sound to it. I made a video post in a different thread on the 1g awd. Do a search for "Megan 1g awd video and pics". By the way I have a few in stock.
