Good to hear, just ordered one.

Is it a good idea to use exhaust cement/paste on gasket to ensure a leak-free connection or is it not really necessary?

The MR exhaust components have been around a while, and are generally accepted among the DSM crowd. Make sure the o2 housing flange and the new down pipe flange are flat and clean. If both are clean and flat, then no additional material like gasket sealer or rtv are needed.

I've put on 5 different Megan downpipe on 5 different dsm's and they have all had true flat flanges. They're the best bang for the buck for sure

I agree they generally fit well, but I have a habit of double checking.

Also, to the OP, the MR down pipes do not fit well with the stock o2 housing. They will fit, but the nuts may rub against the down pipe. I have had to dent a few down pipe near the flange for the nuts to adequately clear the pipe.

Not a down pipe but i believe CX builds the punishment racing intercoolers. They are very well made. Either one looks good, pick the one with the best feedback. That's all you can do.

I have a 2g and spent maybe $250 for a full turbo back kit. That was over 2 years ago. No rust. at all. Fit really well. It flares to 3" at the flex though so it's a little different.

Got the Megan 3" Downpipe now but not sure if it will connect to 2.5" TP.

Before I start taking everything apart can anyone tell me if 3" flange will mate to 2.5"?

Returned 3" and ordered 2.5" mandrel bent dp. Hopefully fitment is good so I can bolt up in driveway and go :)
