Max safe boost? [Merged 10-6]

injectors? logger? that turbo will move more air, you need more gas. just be safe, find out if it has bigger than stock injectors

Is it a narrowband A/F gauge or a wideband A/F gauge? With a 16g and stock injectors, the max I would run is 14 psi unless you have a logger to show knock. The strange wire is probably the fuel pump rewire...

I would never run more than 14psi on a stock fuel map and without a wbo2. You need fuel tuning and a logging program to watch detonation. Every car is different. One with the same setup as yours may beable to run 17psi without know when you can be getting detonation at 14psi.

It has stock injectors look like the blue tops, narrowband a/f. It had a logger on it but was tooken off when car was sold to me... It runs good on 17psi with no problem and stays in the stoich and rich when in WOT?.. Also will higher octane make it safer to run on 17psi?..

Yes a higher octane will be safer. BUT... you need to have the correct mixture of air to fuel. Go ahead and throw that narrowband in the trash because it tells you absolutely nothing about whats going on with your car. The wire youre talking about is most likely a larger power wire for the fuel pump. If youre going to turn the boost up on a stock fuel system, get a wideband before you blow it up.

You need to save your pennies and get a wideband like an AEM or PLX. Before you go cranking up boost you gotta be sure what your AFR's are for sure or you will mostly likely end up blowing something up

Just picked up a 97 gst. i had a 1g a long time ago and used to be on this forum. glad to be back with the DSMs.

just one quick question. with the mods i have now what is the highest PSI the engine willl handle safely?

yes its correct. i bought it for 4800.

so 16 psi tops, got it. i was gonna pump it up to 20. good thing i asked first ROFL

I wouldn't go over 15 psi on the stock injectors. If you upgrade your injectors to 550cc and got at least an SAFC you could probably safely run 20 psi.

I 2nd that I have a pretty modded car and only run 15, that's enough for me don't want to break anything. Why try to max it out, but I get nervous about everything.Don't want to fix it rather drive it then fix it.

I would leave the boost alone until you get something to tune with and a logger. I say screw any piggy backs. Just go ahead and buy dsmlink or learn how to flash the 98+ ecus. After that I would get some 880cc injectors and be done with it for a while until you upgrade the turbo.

Post picks or I will delete this thread LOL JP.

i got it pretty cheap cause the body is about 6 out of 10. the front left quarter panel is a little mangled and the rear left quarter panel and bumper are pushed in. The CF hoods finish is cracking off too. other little dings here and there. in the long run the paint is in very good condition seeing the car is almost 13 years old.

I hate those hoods. but good buy anyways, always loved that color. You should definitely upgrade injectors and then run a little more boost. I wouldnt go past 14-15psi now though.

im not a fan of the CF hoods either. im looking to find a stock hood for it.

trade you my stock hood for your stock bumper....EVEN DEALS!!! haha. I hate you :) nice car :)

thanks man.

anyone have an idea of how much HP and TQ i should be making right now?

im looking into getting some bigger injectors and a Apexi safc just not sure on how to use it yet.

Coincedentally, some one just had a thread on here about this car. Hmmm. Post a pic of the title! Clean car regardless. Mount the overflow bottle and its ready to cruise.

yeah the guy i bought it from said he was on a forum. guess it was this one.

Hell of a mod list u got there. With a way to tune and bigger injectors u could safely run way more boost. My stock bottom end has seen 34+ psi. But obviously enough fuel and a tune. Oh, and a bigger turbo. Good luck and keep us posted.
