can you be a lil more detailed on how to remove the bcs? like step by step..sorry i know i have know knowledge:ohdamn:

what up ALI? you probably dont remember me but im from lincoln,,,use to hang out with ben golden and adam nalow all those guys.... i drove a 88 civic hatch terd back then back then.... you still hangin out at the car wash and burger king on saturday nights?...hahaha..LOL just messin:tease:

I have seen people locally turn the boost up to 17 psi on stock cars but it has been my personally experience with my eclipse and other turbo'ed cars that it is much better to do things like upgrading exhaust and intakes before turning up the boost as you will see a much more positive gain at that time. I know that there are many threads on this forum and others and by several reputable dsm builders on suggestions on an upgrade path that will yield positive and reliable results. here is a link to a very concise site for upgrading your eclipse, RRE 1st Generation Eclipse# Upgrade Path

thanks man this helps alot...not being sarcastic either

You should not turn up the boost at all unless you know your engine can handle it via some type of logger.

LOL whats up man? I'm not that big of a ricer to hang out at the car wash, but Burger King yes.

hahah nothin much just got my dsm a couple days ago and lovuin it but ive never owned a turbocharged car or a dsm and litterally know nothing about either so ive been talking to turbovert alot but he dont know shit bout DSMs.... but im coming back to lincoln this winter.... im sure you will see me on the streets...LOL.... take it easy man:thumb:

i know its been said a while back but yes you can run 14-15 lbs of boost i had a all stock fwd pushing 17 on stock 14b, but it might not be recommended by most people on here, there are breaking limits, ive managed to get my new dsm with stock bottom up to 24 psi with no problems, but im not telling you what to do, except for use the boost wisely. :thumb:

well what type of logger should i get....is that like a afac controller?... what does a logger do? just tell you air fuel ratios?...

No, a logger is a tool usedto aid in tuning, but more importantly to help in monitoring your engine, checking /clearing codes...etc. All you need is a datalogger( such as a palm pilot), a serial cable to connect the logger to your diagnostic port, and the program of your choice that you want to run(such as Palmnstein). To me this should be the first thing you should buy after a boost gauge.

DSM are fun cars but like any other car you going to have to take good care of it, Turbovert is a dumbass, he thinks his RX7 is the most badass car out there and he thinks he is god when it comes to cars(sorry if he is a friend of yours)

I would NOT trn up the boost until you get a logger to monitor knock. it will work but i'm about 95% sure it won't be safe. every now and again i've seen a car with no knock with that boost level but most run out of fuel and knock. they run just fine but are knocking in the 5000+ rpm range. mine ran fine and i kocked out a 15 second run on my very 1st pass with no experience. i was siked. then i installed a logger a couple of weeks later to find that i was knocking like crazy after 4500 rpm at 15psi. i had little clue of this happening as i didn't redline before shifting and ran out of road before redlineing 3rd but the logger had me at over 100% injector duty. and over 25 counts of knock at all of the 5000 rpm range. good thing i only ran her twice without a logger. if i had just said that my boost guage was enough and the bcs set at 15 wasn't causing me to hit fuel cut then i would have hurt something in the longrun. do it right and get a logger. it will work as it was said by various others, including myself, but noone can tell you it will be safe unless they know what the car is doing. onl way to know that is a logger to monitor the engine.

Rewire the fp, run 16psi on a 90. Run a K&N and test pipe also, it wont hurt it. 90's run a lower a/f than 91's up. I can run .80 on the voltmeter all day long with no ill effects.

Last motor i built i ran it like that and ran 14.019@96 w/ a full 2.5" turboback.

well after all that i have seen here i am definatly going to get a logger... problem is i will have to learn how to use it and what to look for when monitoring my engine... but im sure that wont be a problem...thanks for the help guys

so if i just hook up my boost gauge....do you think it would be ok to do the bcs mod before i get a logger.....cause im just gonna wait and hook up my boost controller and logger at the same time

but do you think it would be ok to do the bcs mod just to get an extra 2 lbs without monitoring my engine?

Although a logger isnt a bad thing to have, its not really a tuning tool.

Knowledge is the best thing that can help you. Ive had a 90 for 11 years, and worked on all years in between.

Here, Tom Stangl wrote the one that i followed back in 2000 or so:
Fuel pump rewire

The difference being, since i used to install car audio, i went and ran the 8ga ALL the way to the pump itself.

I ran my 90 GSX with the BCS mod, crushed BOV, exhaust, ported manifold, ported o2, and a nodded airbox without running lout of fuel. In retrospect I should have done the fuel pump rewire at a minimum.

People are saying to check it with a logger because every car is different. My car had 35k on it when I started modifying. It would suck to blow up your engine because your fuel filter is a little dirty and restricting flow or you have enough cylinder carbon to raise the compression ratio and cause knock.

do you think it would be ok to do the bcs mod just to get an extra 2 lbs without monitoring my engine?

Do YOU want to take a chance? If so, go for it. If you want to be safe, then wait. Most people will say "Yeah you will be fine..I run xxx psi of boost all day for 10 years with no problems" However I wouldn't raise my boost 1 psi without a logger to see what it's doing, but that's me.

15 psi off the stock turbo is the most you can run without running into serious complications with fuel delivery and such. Though as said above, get a logger just to keep an eye on things to make sure everything is running the way it should be.

This is my 2nd dsm to own and have a question...

I just bought a 1G with Big16G, open filter, open stock downpipe, crushed BOV, not for sure if i have a aftermarket fuel pump but there is a strange wire going from the fuel pump underneath the car to the battery?... and a MBC Set at 17 psi:confused:. I also have a a/f gauge and boost gauge

Is running 17psi ok with my setup?.. What would be the highest/safest psi to go on my current setup?...Has anyone safely put more than 17psi on the almost same setup?..

Any help will be good. Open to all comments thank you:thumb:
