LOOK at new Ebay 16g turbo and exhaust setup

They do. I'm one who ran one and it blew, BTW (already mentioned that). What's the percentage :) ?

BTW, I really wouldn't count the guys who buy the ebay 16g and only push it to common 14b performance. The 16g is a 300+ whp turbo EASILY. So if it can hang on for 20psi, which is easy for a real 16g to do, then please give all the success stories after a few thousand miles. Otherwise, it's a new chinese 16g vs. a stock used 14b not being pushed. . . And who cares then ;). . .

There have already been ones on here with them doing fine, and not just at 16-18psi either. I've also seen about 3 different fake 16G's on ebay, and I'm sure the failure rate is a lot different on the different ones.

I've heard some Holset destruction here on tuners too, but I still want to get one, and I don't hear people saying they're junk after a few people blew them. Any turbo you search for on here that a decent number of people have ran, you'll find people who wrecked em.

That's why I'm asking percentages here. I agree with you. I really do. In fact, if all that needs to be done is proper, real balance work for these turbos then they are SO worth it. They flow fine for their size and match the evo3 16g in power per psi based on several results at the track with common mods.

What is the percentage of garrett journal bearing failures (PTE, t25, sbr turbos)? What is the percentage of MHI failures? What is the percentage of Holset failures? What is the percentage of BW failures? Waht is the percentage of Ebay (knock off) 16g/20g/35r/etc failures?

I've read quite a bit that they also use pretty soft bearings and weak turbine seal.
I have seen them make good power too!

I won't say but that was a funny reply! I thought we had one of these threads already. Do I feel a close. I guess we can stop throwing in our opinion cause the OP don't care! Simple! Don't people say it's your money spend it the way you want. and there is the other one... think long think wrong!

I dont think that was a good move buying a ebay turbo they are known to break very easy

Have you read ANY of this thread? Or you just wanted to waste room & get your... 3rd post in?

If your turbo breaks, I blame it on the fact that you didnt feed it from the head. NOT because its an "ebay" turbo. After so many years of DSM's trashing their turbos, they are eventually bound to make one that can withstand our punishment.

Plenty of people spend $500-$1500 for a turbo... aka holsets. How many of those get owned? PLENTY. Think once, post once. Dont keep saying the same junk. Not to mention, how many ebay turbos have you tested? Trying it once is NOT enough. Thats like saying "Oh man, I stalled the car... manual tranny's sucks!" GET UP, dust yourself off, & try again. Its about faith, and how can you have ZERO faith when you drive a DSM?! WTF

My advice to people with no faith, go buy a honda.

The only turbo that I did right with that still failed was an ebay turbo. Fed from the head. Like every other 16g should be. I've run various MHI turbos, holsets, garretts. Unless they run different center sections. . . Jusmx141 has mentioned that they ahve a mixture of garrett journal bearing and mhi parts in the cartridge. . .Could this be the real reason why they fail??? I'm interested in what he has to say with that question. . .

I have 321hp 346tq at 25psi with a stock side mount and stock cams, been running it for over a year. Do I count?

I too ran the oil feed line from the head to my ebay evo 3 and within weeks it was done. I only ran 16psi. When i took it apart it looked as if their were no seals. The bearings were like potato chips. I had 30day warranty so i returned it and got a replacement went on and sold it.

Why would you ask that  ? Isnt it clear enough? So you vs. me. Just in this thread of those who pushed their ebay 16g turbo to 16g power. A 50/50 success rate is pretty lame.

Mine blew after trying to match my small 16g. And your's ran for a year. I've got 10 other cases of them blowing at or above stock demand. I really think it may be the oil feeding delema that plagues so many turbos. Give a less quality turbo bad oil feeding and guess what.

The only way to really settle the issue is to lab test side by side under identical conditions. Have knowledgeable people do a quality inspection before and after testing. Let the chips fall where they will. Probably the brand name will be a better turbo, but how much more I don't know. Mabey you can't boost to 20 lbs reliably but it could still be a reliable unit for a lesser application. This is what we need to find out.

Status Update from the OP:

Went out and pulled through 2nd, 3rd and 4th today at 14psi. It's running great, but it's not fast enough yet so next I'll try 16psi.

I'll post if the turbo goes haywire or something. . . .
