i was wondering if a ebay 16g turbine can be replaced with a stronger one? and where i can find any turbine/ exhaust wheels? my problem is i burned up my exhaust wheel, and i can tell by looking at it its really thin and cheap looking. i cant afford a new turbo for awhile.

eBay 16G turbos use a hybrid turbine wheel that was developed when these companies were having so much trouble breaking turbines. A TD05H turbine from a MHI turbo cannot be used.

The eBay 16G turbine has TD05H inducer/exducer size, but uses Garrett T3-sized journal bearings instead of Mitsu parts. The turbo also uses a Garrett T3-sized turbine shaft seal, so Mitsu parts will not work there either. This doesn't apply to the GT Concept's "Evo III GT" that is distributed by Turbochargers.com. This turbo accepts all Mitsubishi parts.

Aside from trying to track down a new turbine from the supplier you bought it from, I'd say you're S.O.L.

im going to drive this turbo till there is nothing left of that exhause wheel im so pissed. i knew the turbo sucked, but i thought it would last longer.
do you think its most likely i did the damage when my waste gate was not opening and i was hitting 20+ psi?? the waste gate was jammed in when i first drove it.

Yea they do suck balls. My buddy through one on about 2 months ago and there was no shaft play. Now at only 18psi its nothing but a floppy dick. Dont ever buy these turbos. Ive been running my MHI for over 2 years and its running over 30psi. I cant tell since by boost gauge is pegged.

Why would you run your car with the boost gauge pegged? Safer to buy a new boost gauge. I dont plan on running 35psi on my new setup any time soon but I still purchased a 45psi gauge to be safe.

Dang dude that was bad luck I guess. I have a couple of my friends who have ebay 16g's and they are spoolin like champs. I can't wait till the ebay 35r gets tested out in the other thread.

Why the hell is a 16g running over 30psi in the first place?!?!?!WTF

i would never buy an ebay turbo my buddy just a got a t3/t4 turbo and it has pretty bad shaft play already and it has not ever been installed, and it sounded like something was inside the housing like a small rock.

Hey you guys would be surprised what the evo 16g MHI can do. 16g's cant flow much air so it pegs 30-32psi and drops to about 26psi by redline. It makes a lot of power up there and Ive been running it like this for awhile now. Im seeing that much boost and 22* timing on 8.5:1 pistons with zero knock at all. Car is making near or over 400whp and hits full boost by 3500rpm. Now tell me thats not fun. Talk about wheel spin in an AWD.
