For those who choose to try and be cheap and buy an eBay 16g, I strongly recommend against removing the compressor housing for porting. I did so and found the o ring fit so tightly it was nearly impossible to fully seat the cover and over sized c-clip.

I remedied this by digging up an old compressor cover off an old eBay 16g along with a perfect o-ring that was with it. With these parts, a little assembly lube and a slight twist it slid together.

More Importantly comparing the 2 covers, the much older comp cover had less porting and was still larger and the "port" the whole way from beginning to end was 1.5mm larger.

I don't understand the point of this thread- I've never had a single problem getting a compressor cover to seal on any turbo...MHI, or knockoff. :idontknow:

Some of the real shitty knockoff 16G's don't have the locating pin on them so if you do remove the cover you should mark the alignment prior to removal...but that's the only issue I've ever experienced.

Looks like o ring fit so sloppy it was pushing out between where the backing plate and comp cover meet. Which would let it seat, let alone seal.

Most important part is its now back together and running for first time in 4 months.

So the o-ring was sacked out and didn't fit tight....that's not the fault of the turbo.

If you had changed the o-ring while the cover was off, it would have saved you a lot of frustration.

On my ebay 16g the part of the compressor housing that mates with the large o-ring was too large and the o-ring wasn't able to make a seal and when it built boost, the pressure would leak out from between the compressor housing where the o-ring is supposed to make a seal. It was HORRIBLE it made a Very Loud whining sound every time it built some amount of pressure. I had to get an entire new compressor housing.
That was my nightmare I dealt with from going cheap =(
