I bought a new set of JE pistons off ebay but the box was missing one piston pin. I looked up a replacement pin from JE and there are some big differences in the weight and length. I think I may have an older style piston from JE. My question is can I use 4 new pins from JE in my current pistons or do I need to find the ones I have.
I am assuming the caliper used and scale may be a bit off but the tools used were from a reputable machine shop and I don't think if they were the same these measurements could be that far off.
The outer diameter is the same. JE 85.5mm pistons going into Eagle H-beam rods.
The pins that came with the pistons:
Length 2.5"
Weight: 105.7g
Wall Thickness: 0.168"
JE's current Pins offered (in 85.mm pistons):
Length: 2.250"
Weight: 91g
Wall Thickness: 0.150"
Will the shorter length work effectively if I get 4 "new style" JE piston pins?
