The JE Piston thread

well i have had 2 motors build by bj's using je pistons the first motor had no slap and the second motor had so mush slap that i had them removed for ross pistons. the je pistons i removed were send back to je and from what i remember "its been 3 years now" the pistons were not up to spec and je send me a new set.

.0040" is a good clearance for what you wanna run. I have had them as tight as .0033" but never more than that. Break in will just take a little longer.

Yeah, I just got the block back last week and it's been sitting here for now (waiting on a new set of JE rings, ARP studs and Clevite Main Bearings).

.0033 is even less than what JE recommends! WTF What kind of setup did you run?

And yeah, I plan to do a nice, long break in with my motor when things are done ...

I guess now I need to decide on whether or not to upgrade my clutch. It's a hell of a lot easier with the motor and tranny out of the car.

It wasn't a 4g63. Turbo 3.8L from a GN.

Quite a few of those running around here. They're almost always never stock.
