is this 2g head fixable?

hello folks, I have a 2g head that has damage in the combustion chamber. Take a look and see if this is fixable. Thanks.

I want to say yes as i have seen worse get fixed, it would require a good machine after to get it all level again and do the valve work after of course.

Just make sure who ever does the work makes a good recess for the new weld and it will be alot stronger this way

You would prob be better off buying a new head the work will cost more then a nice rebuildable head would

Yeah it might be more cost effective to find a better core. Don't throw it away tho someday you might have to pay dearly for a core in that condition.

Ive gotten a head fixed in a scenario similar to this. Machine shop welded the head and matched it accordingly. It never gave me any issues since then.

Your head doesn't look bad.

Put an old valve in it next to where you'll work. Grind the damage out with a carbide burr, weld it up. Shape it up with a burr, and mill it.

It's not in the fire ring so you could actually just smooth it out and run it.

I wound up buying John Minor's head for essentially $50 because the other head would need new cam caps and an align hone which would make it more expensive than just buying another head.

It looks like someone is going to be having "boosting" fun in the future. Glad you are getting it all together and getting ready for the ride of your life!
I think the head is salvageable also but get some quotes for the work to be done.

I would tell you to learn how to weld, but I don't know how to do aluminum so it would mean nothing! If it were steel, I can do that. Those guys that can tig can make some beautiful stuff!!!
