Well looks like i will just fork out the money for the 216 FMIC. I was just wondering if it would work, and how well. Or who know's. Maybe i will looking into Liquid to Air intercoolers. But i will probley just go with a FMIC.

Well you guys seem to know whats going on here. So let me ask you a few questions about my set up, and give me some feed back. Right now im going to be running a stock motor (Internaly). This is what im going to be running next year.

HKS VPC/GCC, HKS 272 cams, AGP t3/t4 Turbo kit (60 trim stage 3 exh .63 ar) , Rlf BOV, Hard Pipes, 216 FMIC, aeromotive FPR, 660 cc injectors, 6an fuel lines, 255 fuel pump, 2600 act pp, and street disk, welded center diff, 4 bolt rear end, Full 3inch exhaust all the way back, magnus intake manifold, msd dis 2

plus gauges, supension, ect

do you think this will be a good set up? what would you change? any insight would be welcome. thanks

I want to know if this intercooler is going to be big enough for a 50 trim t3/t4 turbo. It is a tube and fine core. The size is 24x12x3

with this be big enough?? thanks

why are alot of the expensive intercoolers always 3.5 think? does it make a difference other then more area? So you are sure it is big enough? thanks for the help

Well I'm personally getting a 3inch one becasue 3.5 inch is too much for 110 degree summer. Ultimateley I would say get a 3.5 inch if you turbo was say a 60-trim.

What are the gains with having a thinker intercooler? Other then more area. lets say i have a intercooler that is 24x10x3. then there is a intercooler that is 22x8x3.5. which would be better, and why? Would a thinker intercooler cool better then one that maybe longer, but would still equal the same Area?

I think the thickness has to do with the pressure drop. But I'm not positive.

well if that is the case then. Presure drop is caused by the air temp being reduced and the air becoming more dense. so if the thinkness has to do with presure drop them doesnt that mean the think one will cool better?

hey i'm piecing together a custom turbo kit and i wanted to know what size i/c do we need for our cars (dimensions) also do we have to take our bumper off to put mount it in the front any help is appreciated
thank you

Front mount, I would just get one that has already been sized, such as at www.Dejontool.com, or www.turbochargers.com if you are looking for a front mount. There is also a guy that does custom front mount intercoolers, and sells them for buy now on ebay for only 275.00 and they can fit. Yes you have to take your bumper off.

i want to be over 200 is what i'm shooting for only thing is i am a broke high school student so i have to do things the cheapest way possible thats why i want to do a complete custom turbo kit cause i figure i can by used parts

I have a rather small intercooler from a mazda turbo. Core measurements are 11Lx9Hx3W, and I had 2 1/4 in/outlets put on it. All together it is 11Lx 13Hx3W. What do you guys think??? I think it will flow fine, but I want an experienced opinion. In its favor it is 3 thick...

You've got about a 50% increase in volume over the stock DSM unit...almost to Starion territory.

I've heard from a couple of people that the Starion intercooler, Although much bigger really doesn't flow all that well. What is your opinion? Another buddy of mine up in Florida is running a Isuzu NPR Intercooler, and say it works great... What core sizes should I be looking for? Are ther minimum measurements I should check on? Thanks

:thumb: on my god, i never thought of that. i have a 89 probe gt sitting in my yard, that wont start. is that what ic your talking about. i never thought to look at that. first thing tomorrow im going to see what it looks like

yes that is the one... It's deminsions are the same as some of the FMIC on ebay and I personally think it looks sick on the front of Eclipses. It doesnt fill the large opening in the front but it looks very balanced. I've had no problems with heat soaking either. In addition they run around $50.00 on ebay.com... I have only had it on my car a week and "So far so good. Oh yeah the in/outlets come 1 1/2 so you have to cut them out and have 2 inch pipes welded in.

Hey guys,
i need some help with this, if you have one in your car pelase help me out because it seems pretty cramped in that bumper to fit an intercooler so people with experience would be helpful.

Thanks

Sorry...no FMIC for you!!! :D I have not seen a intercooler that didn't require some cutting. There's a few that look absolutley beautiful...but then again....had to cut stuff to get it to fit.

Good luck on finding that "direct-bolt on, no cutting  , great fitting intercooler".

I would be more worried about how a intercooler flows, and how efficient it is before the cutting issue.

If you can have your fog lights with a FMIC your accomplishing something IMO.

the big greddy front mount requires the least amount of cutting if any at all. I'm sure it still requires some cutting but its advertised as the biggest you can fit with minor trimming. So depends on definition of minor trimming

I would be more concerned about fitting the intercooler to the size of turbo you have, or are planning to have. Some guys put these huge ass cores on their little 14B turbod car.... Not necessary.

Anyway, if you want the biggest with least amount of modificaton needed, I believe Greddy is the one. Allthough you could get a nice Spearco cored unit that will fit below the bumper support and only have to trim a little of the bumper cover away to make a nice clean fit. There are smaller cores that can easily cool 350 hp. :thumb: Now if you're gonna run a 20G or 50-trim or 60-1, etc. then you should be getting that larger core.
