Will the Conquest/ starion intercooler support the big 16g or an evo 16g to it's max potential without any complications?

No, they will not support a B16G to it max efficiency. It would be a good upgrade for running around 20 pounds, but I wouldn't go any higher than that. I know that most of the guys that run 16G's or 17C's on the Starions are able to heat soak them at 17-18 pounds. I had no problems with mine on the stock 12A, but that thing is the size of a bagel ROFL

I was thinking about this upgrade for a while, but I am going to go with a supra SMIC. It is an easier install and I feel more confident that it is a better core. I mean, you have people on the Supra forums making 400 wheel horsepower on that stock SMIC and guys on here running well into the 12's on that core.

Yeah look into the supra sidemount. Im runing one on my ported 14b and it doesnt heat soak for shit. Just dont tell them your putting it on a dsm. They will over charge you then. I told them I owned a supra and that it had a hole in it LOL. 60shipped baby

Starion intercoolers are marginally better than a stock intercooler (and that's only because they're front mount). Go with either a Supra smic, or a proper intercooler setup like a Dejon street setup.

As stated above a Starion FMIC is not the best route to go. At one time it was a good upgrade, but that was back in the days before we knew better. LOL

Hmm, Im not exactlly sure what that means. Do you mean the upper piping? Thanks for the quick reply.

They took it away, people were using it to give negative points to people that didn't deserve it. There was a new link that Chris put up that explained the change a little more but I can't seem to locate it.

I think that little thing that is below your name is now used to give you rep points (I really don't know what it is suppose to be  ) It's right beside your online/offline status. If you just put your mouse on it and don't click it comes up "Add to Whiplash's Reputatoin". I think that it kind of looks like an old school scale, but I could be wrong :D

I just picked up a Supra SMIC myself.:thumb: I also got a 14b that I'm gonna port the hell out of or get the bullseye housing for.

The sidemount and possibly water injection (down the road) should handle damn near everything I throw at it.

Tha's whatcha need

look below your name. There is a small icon of a scale next to the online/offline indicator. click on that to issue rep points. You can only give positive points, not negative.

That's what I was thinking, but wasn't sure about it. Thanks for the info.

I have 1g Talon:talon: and my friend has an old FMIC of a Mitsubishi Starion. Would this be worth putting on or just go with another brand.????

Go with another brand. Starion FMIC's aren't all that they're cracked up to be, especially when you can get a good one for a decent price. The only advantage you have with a Starion intercooler over a stock intercooler is that it's mounted in front.

I picked one up for around $250 from ebay, but that was just for the intercooler itself. You'll still have to shop around for piping and silicone couplers.

I have a starion front mount that i picked up for $50 that im using with a small 16g and it works excellent.

The starion front mount is good up to 300hp.....If you can find one for cheap, and don't mind a little time installing, then go head...I also agree that if you have the money i would buy one from ebay....If you are a cheap racer the starion front mount will do just fine..The best mod for that IC is to make the inlet and outlet bigger, being that stock is only like 1 7/8 inside .....

I just picked up a Starion FMIC yesterday for about 60$ or so, and it's in pretty good shape. I'm gonna polish it up and then it's gonna be put on with some custom 2.5" piping a friend and I are going to fab up.

However, I've been searching around about the Starion FMIC's and from what I've been reading on here, they're notorious for heat soaking. How true is this? I have an alcohol sprayer for my stock sidemount right now, and I'm running about 18psi and not having any heatsoaking issues.

So far my mod list includes 550 injectors, Blow Thru, Ported manifold/turbo.. right now those are really the only more productive mods I can think of off hand. My ported head is going on sometime in the near future, and hopefully I'm gonna be able to build it with some 1mm oversized valves and titanium springs along with HKS 264 cams.

So I guess now to the actual question, since I'm really only paying about 100$ for the intercooler and the piping, is it worth it to upgrade to the Starion FMIC for the time being? Or is it better off just sticking with the sidemount? I plan on buying a Dejon FMIC kit sometime at the end of this year or into next year, but until then I'd like a FMIC for the track this year. So, do you think I should go foward with the Starion intercooler or stay away from it altogether? Now I'm just ranting..
