Just wondering how hard it is to swap a 4g63 engine into a non turbo body (I.E. 1997 Talon ESI). I have a 99 GSX and can't afford insurance, my friend will trade me his 97 esi for my gsx and he will give me 8000 cash on top of it. So can I just go buy a engine, drop it in and be on my merry way?

It is nowhere near an easy swap because of all the $$ and custom fabricating you have to do. You could do it, though, if you were willing to spend most (if not all) of that extra $8k that you got :thumb:

No, it is not as simple as the 1G 4G63 n/t to turbo swap. The difference between the 2 setups is far more greater in the 2G. The engines are not even remotely close to the same.

Money makes the world go round. So enough of it can get you anything you want. ;)

DO A SEARCH, every week I see this same damn thread...

no you can't just buy a motor and be on your merry way. Just pop the esi hood, and your gsx hood. Look at the side walls and motor mounts.

Your best bet, "if your friend is serouis about trading and giving you 8g's" and you want to do that? Just rebuild the esi motor for turbo, buy a turbo kit, get the mods then be on your merry way.

i too would just turbo the esi. you can get a good turbo setup and forged internals and if you can do shit yourself you will still have a good 3-4 grand left over for other shit. plus the money you save on insurance will be good for even more mods.
