I gots mad MS Paint skillz (seriously, I did that in MS Paint...no...really!!)

(I removed the hyperlinked image and uploaded it instead, because some folks couldn't see it. Should be at end of post now.)

And if you inspect the stock BCS setup, it looks the same, but there's no knob on the BCS (the ECU "turns the knob" so to speak).

Enjoy...my nerves are shot...MS Paint is a nuisance.

EDIT: Based on the response of Yoda (steve), I corrected the picture (MS Paint FTW!) to include the restrictor plug. Note that this could in theory be build into the T fitting. I need some verification on this setup, then it will be submitted as a tech article. Oh, and I'm starting to ... ahem ... enjoy MS Paint; I'm a perfectionist, so being able to control (or being forced to control) every pixel manually is somehow okay. And if anyone wants my bitmap with each of the pictured components segregated in an image file (BMP), let me know; I saved a separate file with each component "unmolested".

Hey fellers, New guy here I have one of the stupid Mbcs that came free with my bov, its a JDM with the -TEE- that has the =Ball and Spring= in it.. when i tried to hook it up, and adjust it, I can't get past 13Psi.... read a bunch of different ways to hook it up, and tried them all!!! NO change! where do I install this -TEE- my only mods are - Cold air intake, cat back exhaust, bov, and boost gauge- its a STOCK TURBO, 96 talon tsi fwd.. can you guys help THANKS

I took a look at my tee fitting and noticed that it has a small bearing inside of it to restrict the air.

i just looked up the installation instructions, and on page 3 of 4 of pdf, it shows that t fitting comes apart, and there is bb and spring in there.

guys,

installing the MBC bleed type is a 5 minutes JOB

the MBC bleed type comes with a T ( DO NOT USE THE T) just use the MBC itslef.

Unhook the two hoses on the BCS underneath the water resvoir and hook them to the MBC ( BLEED TYPE ) you are DONE ................. thats its ( no extra hoses no cutting no fitting T nothing ( just unhook from the BCS and Hook to your MBC)

you can go back to the standard set up in one minute if you do not like it ( just unhook the 2 hoses from the MBC and connect them back to the BCS)

its very simple and it works great ( it took exactly 5 minutes of my time)

i hope that the above will help

thanks

I'm wondering if this is a safe and quick way to install a MBC? Has anyone else done this

updated the picture. See the original post's "edit" section for more info.

It would be nice if someone owning one of these mbcs would test out the restrictor plug idea and let everyone know if that's the "silver bullet". I need confirmation one way or the other so that i can convert this to a tech article.:thumb: And my ms paint skills shouldn't go to waste, don't you think?;)

i have a boost controler just like the one in the pic that i am having trouble with,if i could find a restricter then i will try it and let everyone know.
My car isn't stock but that shouldn't matter right

The blue lines go from the pressure source on the compressor cover to a MBC and exit the MBC at the wastegate.

Shorter the lines the better and that's all you need. It would be the same as the bottom picture on your post, pressure source--->MBC--->wastegate

The 2 nipples on the MBC are generally "in" & "out"; pressure inlet--->pressure outlet (wastegate side)

Well done LiQUiDx

This is a handy reference for double checking MBC installs. Brute's guide is great information and this post is like the Cliff's notes. Nice.

That picture is the In-Cabin model.
This allows you to put the controller inside the vehicle and adjust on the fly.

The Boost T must be mounted inside the engine compartment but the functionality is the same.

We recommend removing the factory restrictor when installing these - FYI

FYI, that is for a ball-spring MBC (A Joe-P IL (in-line) MBC if I'm not mistaken...like my black one), not a bleeder style. By the way, my Joe-P IL has worked perfectly for 4 years.

Anyone reading this thread should realize that ball-spring and bleeder MBC "wiring" is fundamentally different and should not be confused. Ball-spring MBCs require a certain pressure to break the ball off its seat and they go in-line between the compressor and WGA. Bleeders let some air leak away from between the compressor and WGA...the more you bleed, the higher your boost (less boost pressure is seen by the WGA so it takes more pressure to get the WGA to open), and the bled air should go back into the intake (the ball-springs could go back to the intake, but they don't leak until after you break the ball-seat seal).
