Well i went ahead and picked up one of the FP 68hta turbos. I currently run 550cc RC injectors. I also run a 390 cc methanol injector from my trunk mounted kit. How much injector will i need to max out this turbo? Keep in mind i use a safc. That's all i got for now. Although i may purchase down the road an Ecm link. Should i go 750cc or should i get a way bigger meth nozzle? I have a single 255 pump i have a less aggressive timing curve chipped in my e-prom. I run forged 8.51 pistons. I run 264/272 cams and i have a wide band o2 sensor.

Thanks

Thanks I think the 750cc fits best considering im going to run 390cc methanol injection also.
I will probably need a 750cc eprom tune from someone.

750cc @ 100% IDC will support 53.83lbs/min
750cc @ 80% IDC will support 43.07lbs/min

I doubt it, since you're on methanol, but if you're considering running ethanol, 1000-1200cc might be the better choice. Better to have too much than too little in this case.

i would have never bought a big turbo then a great tuning product. i would never put bigger turbo on with out ecmlink. look at what others are doing with 16g on dsmlink? look at how many kids blow there motors with safc junk then say DSM are unreliable do it right the first time keep your fp turbo on bed board till you get the missing link

I probably should have bought the link. But the turbo was on sale and in my reach. I have everything i need to keep my eye on the motor. I can get a new chip for the 750cc injectors. I also run Methanol. So i'm not to worried about the link. I have not lost an engine yet. This one is built tougher than any others i have had.
If i lose the motor it wont be the safc or the cars fault. Just my led foot and 35 psi.
I been working on these cars since 2001.

35 psi on pump gas?

Yes, he can easily run those boost pressures with meth injection no problem.

We didnt have link back in the day when we were running 11s with a safc on a 20g. Old school technology with simple setups work.

OP, if your burning chips go straight to 950-1000cc sized injectors.

U will never dial in after market injectors with out link or aem ecm u can never change or edit your injector deadtime even if the guy burns u a chip for yr exact set up all motors are different atmosphere psi presures play a part even fuel pump or e85 have to be fined tuned with wot pulls with psi in calculation. Do u just want us to say cool bra 35psi man yeah man cool nike just do it bra small injectors u got water injection yeahh bra yr set 9sec quarter miles here you come

If you are trying to help i appreciate that. The link has been considered and i will get one when its on sale.
Will i run 35psi on this turbo? I won't at first. I'm going to get it tuned in the best i can. I will turn the boost up at the track on 110 race fuel and Methanol injection. It's not like i'm going to run it like that everywhere.
I just needed to know what injector would be ideal. Thanks to everyone for your help.

You were already given a good answer by DSMKauai but you didn't like it and like the idea of 750's better. What do you want us to do, agree with you? And you still haven't told us what fuel you will be using daily.

If your going to use a piggy back and 93octane, 550's will be easy to tune and give better driveability. But you wont be able to push the turbo hard, and you will have to replace them down the road. Or spray a bunch of meth as a supplimental fuel system. Just don't cry about how unreliable the engines are when your meth dies at WOT and the engine gives you the finger as a rod decides it's done and would rather live outside of the block as meth injection was NOT meant to be used this way as some have learned the hard way. But i'm sure you knew that since you have been working on these cars since 2001, so I duno why you're even asking questions.

P.S. When you make comments like "I have been working on these cars since 2001" it prompts ass hole comments from users who wonder then why you are asking noobish questions. I started on these cars around the same time, and I'm still learning, were just trying to help you to spend less money in the long run and lower the risk of a serious failure.

Yes i looked at the chart he provided and i'm thankful for that. I considered 950cc plus 50/50 Methanol/Water i use might be more than i need after looking at the chart. I run 93 octane and have access to 110 race fuel.
E85 is available but i'm not currently set up for it. Thanks to all .

Chanley,

the 68HTA is going to make a max of 500whp or so. 1000cc would cover that no problem on E85 if you have that option. Really for gasoline, I think a set of 750's would be solid. With a chip you can get it pretty dialed in and not even really need the SAFC. Honestly with a chip it would be better to have an SITC.

I think I have a few potentiometers laying around here for your IAT and ECT lines that you can have too...

Hey, dont give away all the secrets. People wont go on ebay and buy those "chips" anymore.

Ok, back in the early 2000's guys were running 10's on 20g's with a vpc, Buschur went 7's on one, several guys were in the 10's and 11's on SAFC's. Turbo magazine makes 400whp on 91oct with an E316g, and an SAFC. Noobody had a wideband

Now you guys don't have anything close to as fast to what people were doing back then are criticizing a guy wanting to play with a 16g on an SAFC with chip that compensates for his injectors?

Good grief.

Then you want to call me on my picture, when in back is clearly my car getting out on a GTR?

The point still stands, he doesn't need link to make his setup work. Any guy out there that burns chips can give him all of the functionality that link would give him for a savings of $400+.

Here's one for you DSMKauai, back in 08 before I had any money at all. I ran almost as fast as your gst time with my talon on a half blown up china 16g, in my 3300lb awd. Here's the kicker I did it with E85, stock injectors, and no link, no afc, no chip, no maft, nothing. Oh yeah, N/T engine too. I drove the hell out of it, it was great!

Having more fuel available is always better. You can always scale it back with no ill effects (with a fully capable tuning tool) and then have enough in case you upgrade your turbo later. But you've been around a while, you know that's why everyone suggests this. If not, you can probably get away with 850cc just fine.

Being around a while you probably also realize why people are suggesting a more modern tool for tuning. Can you make an S-AFC work? Or a chip? I'm sure you can. It's been done plenty of times in the past. Should you try it? Why, when you have access to better tools with a little more investment? After years of watching people take short cuts with these cars many will sit here and shake their heads when they see you taking unnecessary risks that have the potential to blow motors. It's frustrating when you see it happening.

The number of motors available for these cars is dwindling. And a big reason for that is all the short cuts people take in their builds. They skimp and try to run big boost with a not-so-great tune, when there are excellent options available from quality vendors.

So sure, you can be upset when people criticize you for your plans, but being around as long as you have, I'm surprised you don't understand why people get frustrated when they see people trying to max out a turbo using an S-AFC. It's a little unrealistic to think you wouldn't get some snarky replies. With that said, you have some good answers to your original question.
