Hi guys. I want to buy a bolt on high output alternator and as far as i've seen the popular choise is the 90amp galant and alterstart one. The galant it will be hard to find it in Europe and the Alterstart one is more then other alternators over internet so this is way i'm asking if anyone had any experience with other brands. I found on ebay a deal on 180amp alternator for 175$ shipped to US. It produces 90 amps at idle and 180 at 1200 rpm. Any thoughts?

Hey, you could take a look at this thread and get some more info on which alternators will work. http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/galant-alternator-swap-90-amp-with-part-numbers.454805/

Also, unless you will be running a massive audio system and a lot of other electrical things, I think 200 Amps is way overkill. 75A is stock for our cars, and 90A is a bit better for colder climates. Whatever you put on, don't forget to upgrade your Alternator fuse as well!

I've been reading all the posts related to high output alternators and i can't see anything else then galant option and alterstart. There are some other options on amazon or ebay but with no reviews it's a little bit tricky to to buy them. From my experience when you want to save some money on parts you end up spending more. The galant in Europe like other people said they have different alternator. I would like to get a 90 amp alternator and see how it works. The factory one in my case is not good enough right now with a decent sound system and 2 fuel pumps.

if there is absolutely any agriculture near you, then there is probably a motor rewind facility in your area. take them your stock alternator and tell them you want it rewound for more output. its like a 30$ job here in the states and they can bump an OEM alternator up 20 - 40 amp with very minimal labor.

If you go anywhere to 100+ amps you will need to rewire the system as the stock wiring wont cope with it well and will risk causing a fire,

Your from europe so getting a galant alternator wont be hard, i am able to help out if you need help finding one,

I did call some alternators workshops and they said they can't help me out. Strange but true. I even search on internet to find a workshop in uk maybe it's cheaper for me to rebuild mine. Today i went to a junckyard and i got a galant 2.4 alternator. It's 110amp part nr. MD358421. It won't fit on my eclipse

This is the exact one I run. Works much better than the stock unit and has lifetime warranty.
Too bad it can't get shipped to you some how.

125$ for 90 amp alternator. It's sounds good. The shipping and import tax will increse the cost if i'll order it from Us. If i'm gonna order it from US i would to prefer to go with a high output one just to be sure. Today i'll go to a local parts store and see what i can find using the galant part number.
