GSX wont build boost but the car drives in low rpms ??? and went i step on the gas all the way it wont accelerate dont know if its a boost leak or what?? any tips in want to do would help ASAP :(

Yay, OP made progress!! :) Now figure out why the throttle cable came off. There is probably a good reason for it. And that may be your problem and you wouldn't have to worry about a boost leak test. But doubtful. So start using the search button, or even google "How to make boost leak tester", then do your test and get back on here with results. When you make your tester you will have to pull off your intake, when you do that check for "shaft play" << search that too :)

A few of you need to step up to the BASIC grammar and spelling requirements you agreed to upon signing up. Typing like you don't have opposable thumbs turns a resource into a waste.

You guys are being a bit harsh on the noob, don't ya think? :)

But OP... you do need to use a little common sense when trying to figure out something as simple as your throttle cable issue.

Look and investigate first, search and read second, and then ask for additional help if needed. Following that process in the future will save you from the thrashing you took in this thread. ;)

Couldn't agree more with that statement Calan.

2 bolts on the backside if the intake manifold. loosen them and gently nudge the bracket closer to the throttle body.

As calan said, a little goes a long way

you think if he has a boost leak it might have something to do with the throttle body? the only reason i ask is because his throttle cable came loose thats a little odd, make sure your throttle body's bolted on tight.

on the back of the intake manifold there's a metal bracket with 2 10mm bolts holding it to the intake manifold, loosen those two bolts and slide it back or forth to tighten your throttle cable. you want it to be tight where it does not sag down or wobble but not to tight. if you can lift it with your finger and theres a little play you should be good but if you lift it and you have to put effort into it, its too tight.

as far as the boost leak do yo u have an after market boost gauge? do you know where you tapped it into? do a boost leak test. take off your intake, clamp the tester into the turbo and hook up a compressor or air pump to it. make sure you can see your boost gauge if you dont have a gauge on the tester and pump in about 10psi ( anyone feel free to correct me, im just thinking about how much boost hes running) and listen to any leaks or to see how fast the boost gauge drops psi pressure if it does fast or you hear it you'll see where you have a leak then from there you can post up and well help you with your problem if your still having trouble get water/soap and wet your couplers and joints you'll see it double if you have any leaks.

good luck
....also i recommend you check out vfaq.com and maybe visit your local kragens or auto parts store and pick up a chilton for your car comes in hand a lot and don't be scared to use the search button! :D

Someone help me out... WTF does that say? :)

Please... at least TRY to make an effort at proper grammar when posting. Posts like that ^ just get skipped over by 99% of the people who pop in and try to help.

When you are adjusting your throttle cable the first place you should start is the wear marks on the bracket itself. If that does not work experiment a bit.

If your throttle is really high either you need to PROPERLY adjust your BISS screw which is on the VFAQ website or you need to adjust the throttle cable because your throttle is staying open when you are off the gas, I'd check this first.

Take off your intercooler piping and throttle body elbow that goes to your intake manifold (the thing where the cable connects to) after you do that there will be a flapper that controls the air flow to the motor. With the car off have someone push the gas pedal and make sure it is fully opening and closing. If it is not adjust the throttle cable.

If you have high idle it may be from a bad BISS screw o-ring. I'd replace the whole BISS screw. You can order a new one with o-rings from DSMgraveyard for a decent price. After doing that you will need to PROPERLY adjust the throttle using the guide on VFAQs website. When I say properly I mean you CAN NOT skip steps. When you adjust your throttle speed on our cars the ECU has to see the changes or you will end up doing NOTHING to the idle speed by adjusting the screw.

Anyway, a leaking BISS screw o-ring can cause you to not build boost like you used to. I'd check all the connection of the hoses and make sure they aren't torn or leaking. After you do that I'd spray soapy water around vac lines and gaskets, if you see bubbles forming and getting larger and larger you have a leak at that spot. You would need to do this with the car on.

You can also listen for a hissing sound to identify a leak. This does not always work but it can help.

The problem with this is that the intake will be pulling a vacuum while running at low load, so the soapy water will just get sucked inside if there is a leak. If you MUST use this approach, use something like carb cleaner and listen for a change in RPM. Old school, but not the best idea for a couple of reasons.

A better method is the good old standard BLT. Pressurize the intake track to 5psi over your max boost, and then look for the soapy bubbles and measure the time it takes to leak down.

Good advice otherwise though. :thumb:
