I’ve been trying to take off my harmonic balancer but it’s staying stuck on the body and I can’t get it low enough to clear the metal. Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Nooooo

Hes saying the balancer is hitting the body of the car

You need to unbolt the motor mount and either raise or lower the motor with a jack and a pice of wood under the oil pan
No you don't. As the prev guy said, hit it with a hammer, it fits with the motor in its place, it doesn't need to be dropped, done it plenty of times. Worst case pull the center bolt, though usually it fits fine with it still in

Looks like you are missing the oil pump sprocket nut and it's already popping out through the timing belt cover..
I think you already have a massive oil leak. Or maybe that's the reason why you are removing the harmonic balancer.
Yea I have a huge oil leak that’s why I’m trying to get to the oil pump. I’ve removed the top motor mount on the driver side but it’s still doesn’t drop low enough for me to take off the harmonic balancer. Ima try taking off another one while having a a jack underneath to see if I can get it low enough to pull off.

On a lot of vehicles you can loosen the subframe bolts to bring the powertrain down in comparison to the body. I haven’t gotten this far in to my build so I don’t know if DSM is set up this way. Make sure to support things with a jack so you don’t drop everything on the floor if you send it a little too hard.

Usually removing the driver side mount would give you enough room and angle to remove the balancer if you have OEM type engine mount inserts. If the balancer doesn't move at all, it's because of rust. If that's the case, like Paul said above, gently tap it by something. That would make it come loose.

The balancer is not rusted, I can move it back and forth. I just can’t get it off the guide pin. I’ve already removed the driver side mount which did lower it some but just not enough to clear the metal.

I tried but it didn’t work, it’s just in the same position clipping the metal. I can slide the balancer back n forth but just can’t take it off cuz my engine is not low enough.

Figured I’d give my experience. Neither of my cars will the balancer clear the frame rail with the motor mount in place. I remove the motor mount and lower the motor and it falls right out.

Removing the main crank bolt would give you more clearance if needed but I have never needed to.

Maybe some wiggling and hammering would work but pry bars and hammers aren’t my thing. Sometimes they are needed and other times not so much.
