Harmonic balancer help

When i bought the car it needed a few thing's (battery,head gasket tires and a new harmonic balancer) well whats the best way of going to put one on? Specific tools i will need?

If its never been removed, you need a puller. You can try the rental ones from autozone, but the only way i could remove mine was with the real chrysler oem puller made for that balencer. Its much beefier than the rental.

Than whats the question? Are you asking if you need a tool to put a pulley on?

i need to know whats the best way to go about putting one on. pull the engine, drop it whats the best way and what exact tools are needed to put it on. And if its able to be put on myself or is ti wise to have a pro do it

The harmonic balancer is easy to put on, its four bolts and should be able to access it after you remove the plastic splash guard. Just be sure not to over tighten them because I broke one on accident.

Just noticed your a N/T but I can't see it being much more complicated than it is for the turbo'd cars.

There is a dowel that you will need to line up that is on the crank which goes into a small hole on the balancer. After it is lined up correctly, torque bolts down and put the belts on. Done

i just started the car without the harmonic balancer. will it sound like crap without one on its got a cracklign noise coming from the car. It idles VERY WELL and doesnt bounce. idk if its smoke coming from the tail pipe or steam because its very cold

Well, don't start it without the balancer. That will let the timing belt move from side to side if it decides to. And I am assuming this is for the 420A listed in your profile. If it is then it won't have the four little bolts that BOOMDEEZE was talking about.

You will have one large bolt that goes in the center of the pulley. So get the pulley and get the bolt. Then you use an airgun to put it on. That will make it easier and keep you from having to find a way to keep the engine from turning over as you tighten the bolt. You will have to just sit there and hammer the airgun to get it to push the pulley all the way onto the crank. It is fairly simple.

If you can't wiggle the pulley in there because the engine is sitting to high then just unbolt the motor mount and let the engine sag. That will give you all the room that you need.
