Haven't been on in a while, but in my defense the car has been running great. It still is, for once. On my latest maintenance check I did notice the new harmonic balancer is already separating badly. It's a stock balancer with maybe 5k miles on it. I have another stock balancer from an all stock car that has 55k miles on it, but I'm thinking it's time to upgrade. What are some good brand names that some of you have used? I'd like to go to a metal style balancer rather than rubber one though. Thanks in advance for any help!

Fluidampr.

Cost effective and awesome, as well as will grow with future upgrades. Plus it installs just like the stock balancer, unlike the ATI which requires you to replace the lower timing sprocket.

I would swap another oem unit in there for what your build consists of. The oem unit should not separate after 5k miles, did you buy it new from the dealership/shop or from someone claiming it was new? Post a picture of it separating.

If you are set on installing something other than oem, Fluidampr is what I run and zero problems.

If this is for a street car or a daily then I would recommend just running the stock harmonic balancer.
This is for a modified daily driver that is already eating it's second stock balancer.
Your OEM balancer is separating already?
We are on our second stock balancer.

It was new from Advanced Auto. Only thing I can think of is the car did sit for 2 years while we were fighting the auto trans. I'll see if I can add a pic before work.

You might consider get an OEM balancer from one of our sites supporting vendors or internet from a discount Mitsubishi parts dealer. This will cost more but my car, 20 plus years old, & I'm only on my second balancer.

When I installed a Fluidamper on my full bolt on 16g Eclipse, it made my car feel very refined. It improves shifting, especially if you have a lightweight flywheel. I would definitely recommend the Fluidamper because of how much "Smoother" my car feels.
