Ok, I've read the FAQ's, searched the files, read the newbie and tech oldies and new ones. I think my eyes are bleeding. I have fuel leaking from the fuel pump hanger area when the engine is running. From what I've gathered from the copious reading, I probably will never find a fuel tank with the pump hanger for a 91 talon FWD TSI, and will have to drop the tank and rebuild the hanger. I really, really don't want to do that now. I'd like to find a tank with the pump hanger assembly and the transmitter still attached. Then I can install that, get back on the road, and rebuild my old tank and hanger assembly at a more leisurely pace. So, anyone know where I can get one?

"But when it runs, I am 18 again, 6'2'', 170 lbs., and incredibly handsome."

The car does have an access panel in the rear hatch area to get to the fuel sending unit so you don't have to drop the tank down.

Most everything local is still 2 foot under the snow and rusted anyway. Been looking, lots of 1G AWD tank assembly's, nothing for the FWD. I'll keep looking. Thanks for answering.

On a FWD 1G the pump and sender unit can be accessed from the back side of the tank with the tank still bolted to the car, so there is no need for access panel.

Garfield381, around here i am yet to see an AWD 1G at a junk yard. All i've seen so far are 1.8L FWD. Won't mind getting you a tank or just the pump hanger, but it might be a week or so. PM me if you might be interested.

The tech fourms is not the place for a WTB ad.

Please go back and read the rules that you agreed to back in April 2011.

You have the time in, but not the post count. Post what you know about and help in the newbie forum and be come a proven member.

But check the supporting vendors and freelancers, on the fourm, there are several that part whole cars out.

You're teetering on the line of this being a WTB-style post - which as Dale mentioned is not something we like to see in the technical forums. Since you're asking where to find the tank and not if anyone here has one, the answer is, local salvage yards will be your best bet. I don't imagine you'll want to pay shipping on something like that, but if you do the Freelancers might have one:

It probably won't be easy to find but that's really your only option unless you can find a way to get your existing tank repaired.

Ok, thanks. I will assume that the newbie sub forum "maintenance and repairs" is considered a tech forum. Thanks for clearing that up and if I have any WTB issues I will be sure to put them in the general newb forum. I appreciate the help. I found a used, clean, like new tank in Toledo, 3 miles from my Son. He's got it and I will be picking it up next week.

I was able to fix mine with a new line off the pump and bent it to come out the ring, then I used fuel inj line from the new line to the existing fuel line, should be an easy fix. Hanger should have no rot just the line and retaining ring

Did you weld/braze the line where it came thru the ring plate? I will be taking the hanger assembly off the tank tomorrow, so I don't know for sure, but I might have to make a new ring plate. If I do, I probably will go with a bulkhead fitting. Driving down to Toledo Sunday to pick up the new tank. I'll be looking all the way for a used assembly. That would be the easiest. If I can't find one, the local College cad cam class has offered to design a new one based on the old one and have the machine shop class build it. Sounds good to me. Thanks for the advice.

Just want to clarify that no For Sale or Want To Buy ads should be posted in any tech forum. There is a classifieds section just for that and you need a certain number of posts and have been a member for a certain number of days to gain access.
