I am in the process of removing my old fuel pump to install a new walbro 255. However, It is not coming out without totally destroying the old pump hanger and possibly the studs. Iowa winters are hard on cars. I was wondering if it is possible to get a new single pump hanger or if anyone has a nice used one I could purchase? I've done all i can to avoid this situation I PB blasted every bolt, nut, and fitting on it three times a day over the past couple days... it's not happening. Ive seen double pump hangers on the net. But, I don't think that will be necessary considering I'm only looking for 400hp ultimately. I would think that to be over-kill. Any advise/help would be greatly appreciated.

When I removed mine I broke the hard fuel line that is attached to that piece. I sent mine out to these guys: Rebuilt Fuel Sending Unit Specialist. They should be able to fix it for you if you happen to damage it. Other than that, check the classifieds or start looking for parts cars. You may need to buy the whole tank from someone though, seeing how much of a PITA it is to remove those (but you know all about that already, LOL).

Yeah, actually the nuts were so rusted not a single socket size i have will fit them. I could pound on undersized socket on them but I'd rather do it in a more professional way. Also, the fitting will not come off the fuel line, I put a back up wrench on it but it will slip off or break the pipe coming off the sending unit. It's pretty terrible. I was just hoping I could find a decent stock replacement i could put my walbro 255 in. Half tempted to put in a fuel cell but It would be pretty unnecessary.

I just got an extra fuel pump assembly on the classifieds for 75 bucks. so I can mod it with an fittings for my own dual 255. IDK what the specialist on rebuilding charge, but if you need price check, there's the knowledge.

Also the one that I bought was in great condition, zero rust, and it had the fuel level sensor, the variable resister. evil94evo

I have two solutions for you 1 is I went through the same thing except I just said screw it busted them all off droped the tank and put new studs in if you wanna know how to do that just PM me and 2 I have an extra hanger I would sell you!

That's what I'm talking about! LOL how much would you take for the hanger? As far as replacing the studs... I think im gonna try and grind the nuts off to avoid such a situation, but in case I do need to replace them I'll definitely PM you!
