Frank level 5 info?

Get a ball bearing turbocharger.
There are ball-bearing turbos out there with less flow potential than a Frank L5.

Only revving to 7500, with a frank 5 TD06 turbine turbocharger, is going to get him shit for a powerband.
Then why did FP even bother with the DSM Green and Red?

A 2.0, revving to 7500, on that large of a turbine wheel, connected to a 60-trim isn't going to spool till 3500 or later, isn't going to get full boost till close to 5k, which leaves 2k rpms for "power". That formula doesn't work very well.
Ummm....

We ran this turbo on my buddy's stock 2G and saw full boost around 4200.

Found some timeslips finally, I've seen frank 4 run a 11.2 at 127 in a awd car and frank 5's run 11.2-11.4 over 125 on awd's. This was years ago so I'm sure it was safc tuning and way before e85, so yes I think my goal of 450-500whp should be met. I'll probably rev to 7800 like most fp red guys seem to do. The frank 5 is basically a fp green in everyway but with a 60trim wheel.

I've seen 2 different flow ratings on the to4e 60trim one says 50lb/min the other says 53lb/min IDK which is right but I do know the compressor map I looked at stopped ar 25psi.

Really? God I feel like such an idiot.

My point is, if the frank in question was worth it's weight, don't you think it would have been migrated into FP's catalog (since Robert designed them in the first place while he was at TC.con) along with the green/red?

Whether or not certain BB turbo's do or do not have the same flow potential (what the #### kind of argument is that anyways) is moot. OMG a GT28R doesn't produce as much airflow as a GT45R! NO WAIII! :ohdamn:

...and MY point is that you don't need to make generic blanket statements like "get a ball bearing turbocharger" and "any 06/06H-turbined turbocharger is going to give you a narrow powerband". There are assloads of people out there running FP Greens and other 50-trims on their street cars who are perfectly satisfied because the turbo makes power and fits their budget.

You're making it seem like the Frank 5 is the worst turbo in the world and should've never been built....that spot is reserved for the Bulleye Power V-Trim. What's not to love about a turbo that has Garrett's picky oiling and poor reliability which doesn't reach full boost until 4000+ and makes less airflow above 18psi than a Big 16G?

Well I will go ahead and admit that I thought that the green used a TD05h turbine, and that the 06 was larger than what it was supposed to come with.

With that stated...

A frank 5 should be somewhere between a green and red in terms of airflow, and be a couple hundred (maybe 500) rpms slower spool than a green due to more mass in the compressor wheel.

Either way, this turbo did not live up to the expectations of the designer, so it was scrapped in favor of the green or red. Personally, I would sell it and invest into something more worthy and better performing, but that's just me.

Seems Like a great turbo. I get full boost at 4k, no surging issues and holds boost to 7500rpm. At 24psi on e85 Its just as fast if not faster than my e316g on e85 at 28+psi. Its definitely capable of 120+mph traps at higher boost.

I loved reading this thread. The OP has the same exact goals as I do.
