ECUflash Evoscan and Ecuflash for my 98 GSX

The car currently has a SAFCII Black with RC550's and I'm in the process of removing and selling those but I wanted to unhook the SAFC today or atleast get an idea of the wiring and I was a little disappointed with what I found..

I don't really know what is going on with my wiring here but it looks pretty bad.. There a some things that are connected and some that aren't and it doesn't look like anything was soldered or anything. Since my car is a 98 it has to have the flashable ECU correct? I was trying to get a look at the ECU but its really hard with all the wiring in the way and I don't feel like ripping apart my interior at the moment because the car is being taken to be smogged tomorrow.

It doesn't HAVE to be. You need to remove it and check it out. That looks like a standard DSM SAFC install.

Most of them should just be spliced in. The MAF wire is the only one you actually cut to wire the SAFC in.

The 1600cc Ford CNG injectors that so many people have problems with on DSMLink can be tuned on ECUFlash. Several cars running them. $155 for a set of 4 1600cc injectors.

Very curious about this, where can I get them for that price or do I need to just watch the classifieds? I don't mind a PITA dialing in procedure but I'm definitely ready to move on past my 560s and I don't have much money.

I got mine locally. Just look for the CNG injectors for 94-01 Ford Crown Victoria's.

What color is the MAF wire?

The wire should be the only one cut in half connected to I believe the Pink Wire, I just took mine out for ecuflash based tuning.

I wouldn't be afraid. If you get to understand this, maybe someone make a good video on how to tune a eclipse it wouldn't seem so hard. This is a cheaper route and as I am to understand simple concept for any tuning shop to understand.

You have a table with data you modify. Based on your logging.

Injectors and other things like the mods are straight forward.

I have a ok understanding, maybe I'll make a basic understanding video and maybe other can go more into other things I don't understand but its easier to see then to read.

Did you watch the ecuflash videos from evo forums? I did and they helped with a few questions.

I didn't watch the videos but I downloaded ECU Flash and have been playing around with it a little. I'll have to take a look at it, the car has kinda been on a hault the past few days waiting on some parts to come in.

This thread is your new best friend. Read the pdf in the first post. Evo tuning is nearly identical to 98/99 tuning so there isn't probably a need for any redundant efforts in making guides specifically for DSMs.

Just now came back to this thread and realized that my last post didn't include the link that it should have.

Merlins EcuFLASH Evo 7-8-9 Tuning Guide - evolutionm.net

95blackgsturbo, did you ever finish your tuning on the CNG injectors? I picked up a set of 8 for $100 so when I'm done with exams I'm going to start playing with them. If you could post up or PM me your notes/tables I'll look at them as a guide for tuning these injectors on my evo8 ecu.

I plan to use them primarily for e85 but will also need to be able to run them on pumpgas since I do occasionally make road trips so my big question is have you seen any large differences in deadtimes between fuels? I know some injectors need more adjustment between fuels than others especially ones with larger deadtimes such as these.

Where did ya get 4 for that price? Best I've been able to come up with is around 200$ for 4.

They got reviews because the people that were using them didn't know how to tune for them. I'll upload my tables once everything is done. They can't be treated as regular 1600cc injectors as they flow more at .5ms that 1.0ms.

Would you be willing to share this information? Feel free to PM me, my 6 bolt is going to be running 1600cc's on 100% e85 and would like some info to help start it out. Thanks

Yes I still plan on getting information up. Just need some time right now LOL.

Ahh, my bad - wasn't meaning to rush ya ;) - sometimes it seems people like to horde that info to themselves, not saying that you don't because you help out around here. Can't wait to see it! By then I should have my eprom setup going :D

Just so everyone is aware this may be part of why dsmlink guys have more issues with these injectors than flashable ecu guys, though plenty of evo owners bi*** about them as well.

The 98/99 ecus use a newer, better design injector driver.
Jeff from DSMChips checked the datasheets, and the newer drivers can operate 100 uS faster and have less voltage drop. So if you are using deadtime values that came from a pre-98 ecu, you may have to lower them a little.

My tuner comes from the EVO world although he started with MKIV Supra's, then DSM's, now EVO's and everythin inbetween so he understands them very well. I think that is why he was able to get them to work.

Stock regulator with 255HP pump as well so stock fuel pressure.

I'm planning to switch to a 1g regulator or perhaps go to a full throttle AFPR in order to drop my fuel pressure a bit and get pulse widths into the high 1ms range if not into 2ms.

Also if someone is having a tough time finding these injectors for a reasonable price send me a PM.
