It seems like all of the threads out there kind of dance around the questions that I have about both of these so I will go ahead and post this before I decide to huck the setup and dish out money for link. x.x It has me pretty frustrated at the moment.

First of all, this is a 98 Talon with a 6 bolt swap. I have it to the point of running but that's about it. I do not feel that it is a proper condition to drive which I will detail below. I will simply go through a list of my questions as I have a few of them.

1 : Evoscan - I have had no luck with logging. I have downloaded 2.5, 2.7, and 2.9. 2.5 allows me to get DTCs. 2.7 will log for a matter of 8 seconds. 2.9 does nothing useful. I have not adjusted the Baud rates and have been using the DSM specific tabs though I have tried others and nothing works. I'd really love to be able to see even what my ISC stepping is so I can properly adjust that.

2 : Ecuflash (A) - Ecuflash is new to me, though I have worked with things like Ostrich in the past, I just can't seem to get it down. It seems that I need to get my MAF and Injectors dialed in as throttle response is sloppy. It's acting like my 2.3 Talon did when I had the injectors running a bit too rich. Adjusting fuel and airflow in ECUflash seems very questionable. Where would be a good start for this? All mods are up to date.

3 : Ecuflash (B) - I found where Ceddy had updated/added a tab in Ceddymods to allow the ECU to be flashed to make Pin 52 the grounding pin for the Timing adjust. I went ahead and enabled this in ECUflash by changing the Zero to a One, uploaded it, and installed a Pin at Pin 52 and ran the lead to a switch which, when flipped, allows a ground to be made. When test this, I have seen no change and thus have not been able to set my base time with the CAS. Any insight?

4 : Evoscan (B) - I am running an Innovate MTX-L but do not have it wired to the ECU. Does Evoscan allow logging a wideband through the ECU for, if say, I wired it into my Rear 02 sensor? Like Link does?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as this last bit is all I need to finally drive the car.

Don't use the pins for the wideband, Ceddy recommends using the serial output (adapted to a usb input) for logging since the pin voltage (5v) is inaccurate. I'll try to help with evoscan, don't forget to put Ceddy's modded file into evoscan's folders. The Baud rates should change accordingly automatically with the settings for the car/ecu. IIRC, I think you are not supposed to use timing adjust with a 1g CAS, but idk for sure. For the ISC, use the speed screw adjust button in evoscan. I am using 2.9 evoscan, and I put them in a different folder than the programs folder. I use Mitsubishi MUTIII and EFI Ceddymods Evo5/6 or just EFI ( the Ceddymods evo5/6 i think is better overall and has all of his modifications for evoscan including 2byte load and SD airflow calcs)

A : Roger that on the Wideband.

B : So no changes to Baud rates should need be made?

C : Well I -have- to be able to adjust to some degree to set my base time, otherwise it's going to be completely out of whack. I can't recall who had stated it, but Pin 52 was to be used as the grounding Lead.

D : So you're able to properly log a 98-99 ECU with Evoscan 2.9? How so? I can't seem mine to get connected at all. =/ This is the most frustrating part, really.

B- yep, should be good

C- I've never used it, so I recommend diving into the Ceddymods or Ecuflash threads :ohdamn:

D- Hmm, make sure you have it set onto the right cable, and the 2.0 cables are sensitive AF, never use them to log while driving unless you are using the SD card (which i have not tried) I would buy a 1.3 cheapy ebay cable. (I got a $10 ebay one, works great).

x.x Ugh. So I need a 1.3 to log and the 2.0 to flash? Ridiculous. Haha.

You don't have to. I have been using the same 2.0 cable for logging for the last 4 years with no problems. I don't like having to switch cables to do a log, then flash changes.

I have used 2.6-2.9 as they came out with no changes and have been able to log fine with the 2.0. may want to uninstall them and only reinstall the 2.9.

As for base timing, recheck the pin is in the correct location. Also, pull the rom off of your ecu and make sure the changes you say have actually been made. Also, make sure you have continuity between the pin and the ground when the switch is on and no continuity when it is off, just to check the switch.

On a small side note, I have noticed that on many 6 bolt swaps I have done, the cas appears to be very advanced when the base timing is actually set properly. If your cas is centered, you may be running very retarded, causing your running issues.

Also, if you want to attatch your rom, might be able to help a little more.

Been meaning to update this.

I was able to get Evoscan working properly - it took a mix of messing with baud rates and Evoscan 2.7. I also flashed Ceddys' update to allow grounding the Timing pin. Once I did this I was able to use the actuator in Evoscan to ground the pin and set my timing. Set it to 10btcd and it runs gorgeously. Throttle response is phenomenal.

I actually have someone working on a tune for it today so hopefully everything is worked out for the time being.

I haven't done it just yet, but later today I am wiring it up to the rear 02 line at the ECU. From there we can set it to log through Evoscan. Once I get it complete I will post it up. It's just like the LC-1 in terms of wiring.

Regarding the MTX-l, I intend to just hook the yellow wire to the rear 02 input on the ECU.
2013 is waaaaaay to far ahead to be mucking about with serial. I'm sure logworks is a great software, I'm just not about to juggle even more software, in order to log a single variable.

That's my take on it. An adapter for Serial to USB isn't exactly the cheapest thing in the world to pick up locally, so you have to be patient for a good price online. I will likely log through Rear 02. Freshening up Rod Bearings at the moment as I decided not to when the engine was on the stand and finally my conscience ate at me. ._. as soon as the bottom end is buttoned back up this weekend, I'll be completing the Wideband wiring for the Rear 02.

You don't use the innovate software, you still use evoscan but through a usb port converted from serial.
