Thats what Ive always assumed.
Id take it to the track too if it werent closed and do a pump gas only run.
Car would probably be nice in this 40 deg weather but tracks closed, it was
20 degs here last night and in all the years ive lived down here it rarely gets
that cold, but the car is loven it when i do random pulls...

I think im about to go take my car in and dyno it tommorow before i install some cams.
This will be done on pump gas, hopeing to be beyond 300awhp on pump and 20psi ( w/ current street tune.) I will post graphs and videos and etc once its done. Stay tuned!

Excellent question and I too would like the answer to that. Currently the highest lbs/min that I have logged is 34.90 lbs/min (Pretty much 35) and that was at 22PSI and was running E85 mix.
Knowing this would kinda give us an estimate on HP as usually for every pound of air, its like 10hp. So 34 could be 340hp. Its not science but just an idea.

That's because of your MAFT inaccuracy.

Any adjustments to the airflow will make the output on the logger incorrect. Now unless you have DSMLink, your numbers may be inaccurate. Sorry but 40lbs per minute is definately wrong.

Ok guys im back dynoed the car today. My first dyno ever, Ive never been a dyno person Id rather just let track times speak but I was going with some friends and they convinced me to do it.

Right now my conservative tune is set at 20psi, 10.8-11.0 afr, 17degs peak timing, 2gish timing maps , and all mods in profile to show my set up.
Anyways, I didnt get as good of dyno results as I thought but still within norm for a evo3 turbo.
This wasnt on dynojetnor a mustang dyno, its called dynomite...
Turns out I only put down 271 awhp and 304 lbs ft of torque.
But there were a few problems in my set up I shouldve addressed before hand but i havent had much time to work on the car at all I just drive it every day and change the oil... A few possible horses couldve been lost to my leaking throttle body shaft seals that Ive always had and never replaced, and also during the pull; my air fuel ratio was down to 10.8 ( I need a wideband and stable boost control so i can tune this thing a lot better.)
Idk, but any who I dont have any dyno graphs right now im going to try to photobucket them or something but i have a vid of it on the dyno... Its pretty boring though. Ill try to get more up later kind of tired right now.

But next time I go in to dyno its going to be a lot leaner, a bit more timing adv, a intake arm hard pipe because i still have the stock one on the turbo, and last but not least cams; and then I should be busting down 300awhps door with a pump gas tune !!!

What was your baseline? I started with 9.x AFRs

yea FonZ that dyno graph in your profile is pretty choppy looking.

Anywho, well let me try to explain something,
My exhaust set up is a 3in dp that has an electric cutout on it that dumps midway under the car. The rest of the exhaust goes back into 2.5 piping then into stock muffler ( This keeps it stockishly quiet when I close the cutout for stealth or normal driving purposes. )

I purposely did my first run with the cutout closed to see what power I made with the 3in into 2.5 into stock muffler. My results were 225whp and 271lbs ft of torque with a 10.8 afr.

My peak power was made at 5200rpms but it roughly stays at 270whp until 5700rpms then it slowly starts dropping off after. Perhaps cams and more boost would bump the power band to around 6-6500k.
But it did make peak torque of over 300lbs/ft from 3400-3600 rpms.
These were all 3rd gear pulls.

My timing is based off the 2g maps except w/ 17degs peak, i think thats probably holding me back some, and a afr of 11.5 would sure help.
I plan on retuning it a little less conservative someday whenever I get my wide band and my laptop serial to usb cable to log on computer.

At least the Bc 272 cams are already on there way
So we will see what these things can do for my set up.

That's because of your MAFT inaccuracy.

My MAFT is calibrated and I do have link. I did some things to my compressor housing to increase flow.

Heres my latest pull I peaked at 44lbs/min on a calibrated MAFT. I was hitting 2 counts of knock but still pulled hard to 7500 rpms.

It looks like this is on a stock 2.0L with just FP1/FP2 combo cams? (2g intake mani?) 44 lb/min with the evoIII at 22 psi? If this is the case, I would say you still have an air metering/calibration issue. Guys that are maxing the evoIII out & see 42-44 lb/min usually have more supporting mods & are runing more boost. Your 75-95 or 80-100mph time of right around 3 seconds would also support your not flowing as much as it says (unless you have a very poor tune, didn't really pay much attention). I see much quicker times, with less airflow.

Buddy, I run an evo3 on a fully built stroker and don't see 44lbs/min.

Yes, I will have to agree with my origional statement. Your tune needs some work but, no I highly doubt your flowing 44 lb/min. Even with a good tune you won't be able to get your 70-90 times down to where they should be for a car that flows 44 lb/min. 44lb/min is probably about the max I've seen out of an evoIII & once again these were much higher supported cars (ie more VE mods) & were running a good amount more boost. This kind of airflow just isn't going to happen on a stock 2.0L, with your supporting mods at that boost level.

You say you're running 22 psi and your boostest at peak is showing 26-27 psi. So your maft is atually not calibrated and this is the reason for your inflated aiflow values.

But, don't be disheartened. Subtracting 4-5 psi, you should still be pulling close to 40 lbs/min, which is excellent!!! and at the limit. You seam to have gotten the most out of your setup.

I think 45-46 lb/min could be done on an EVOIII with cams and a MAFT blow thru setup. Given about 25-28 psi, cool day, some high octane race fuel. I don't believe a built motor is required aside from the added protection of reinforcing the motor structurally IHMO.

He has enough supporting mods to pull that kind of airflow. He really just needs to crank that boost knob clockwise. Whether the motor holds together, thats another story

Yes, but no evo3 turbo holds 25 psi to redline with a cam upgrade. Even the 18g compressor map stops short of 45 lbs/min at 144Krpms.

No one has done it before. . . these turbos went from very underrated to very overrated. There is no way, short of extended tip technology and MWE, a sub-2" diameter inducer can flow that much air. Even at sea level. Even when cammed, stroked, and with a SMIM; SBR didn't pull that kind of airflow. Their hp numbers show that.

As Matt has mentioned, even if you are actually flowing 40 lb/min, your tune needs some work, unless you made that log going up a hill? Even at 40 lb/min your 70-90 time is slow, if that was taken on level ground I would expect your actual airflow is in the mid to upper 30's range.

Thats fine, I pulled that flow rate from were the boost est. and were my 3 bar meet which to my understanding is the most accuarate. I know my air flow is off in some other places but its not like i'm making this shit up for some glorified reason.

Ok just to add I polished the inside of the compressor housing and port matched the outlet to match the gasket. Do you think that would help it flow better?
