Hello everyone I have a Eclipse 2g 1996 GS 4g63 and I’m having issues with the engaging and the disengaging point. After changing master and slave cylinder the clutch is not engaging and disengaging properly like it always was. I really need help because I don’t know what to do.

Thank you.

Sounds like you just need to adjust the master rod. Is it adjusted all the way out? If your clutch is engaging right off the floor adjust the rod IN to the master (clockwise) towards firewall. If it’s engaging too high off of the floor adjust the rod OUT (counter clockwise)

I don’t need to release much the pedall and then the clutch engagea immediately.

I’m gonna see this video and them see if it’s good.

Thank you very much

I didn’t watch the video posted. However if you are adjusting your master rod always check to make sure you can push the slave cylinder rod back in by your finger.

I’d you turn the rod too far you will close off a valve in the master.

Jacks has a good video on clutch adjustment as well.

Not saying that its your problem but I have not had any luck with anything other than OEM master cylinders on this application, these particular cars are very sensitive to the proper operation of the master cylinder, its an overly complex setup which may or may not have been part of the crankwalk problem on the 2g.

Before doing ANY of the above---*BLEED* it correctly.

I can't believe after decades of this being rehashed, it's still a constant thing.

If you're bleeding the system by just pumping the pedal, holding, and cracking the bleeder open, you're NOT doing it correctly, and will have remaining air in the system. You need to bleed the slave as well. Just "pump, hold, open" is NOT going to do this.

How do you bleed the slave?

As Josh reminds all, also bleed the slave!
Get the wrench ready to crack the bleeder (make sure it has been opened and closed for easy bleeding).
With your left hand, press the slave pushrod IN while cracking the bleeder. Push the slave all the way in then close the bleeder. I JUST DID THIS for my QM Twin.
For the master cylinder, you should bench bleed it before installing.
If you want to know how to do that, just ask Josh @DSSA ROFL ,or I can tell you how. ;) :)
Sorry @Vegas Smith, I was typing when you posted.

PLEASE Marty--feel free.

This week alone, I spent over an hour on the phone with two different people on this issue, and also posted yet ANOTHER diatribe about this on a Facepage post.

It's also on here several places to be searched and found.

Maybe I need to bug Chris to make it a sticky somewhere.

Those go back through 2003 (just on here), and it doesn't include some of the earlier ones that didn't hit on my search string.

I would say that the one from 2013 is probably the best "quick read" even though it's not the one with pictures and a dissected slave in it: https://www.dsmtuners.com/search/1588060/?q=Bleed+slave&c[users]=DSSA&o=date

Feel free to bring that POS up and let's get it on! :):):):thumb:ROFL
We can start with the slowest one and work our way up but we may have to go down to the Toyota Wagon man. :hmm:
