Hey would someone be able to point me in the right direction I have a 98 gsx with a 6bolt swap Nd a 7 bolt wire harness Nd ecu but I wanna know which way i should go, EPROM ecu or sprint 500, after the winter I'm am fully rebuilding it for 600hp to the wheels. And I'm already goin thru difficultys with EPROM ### I have a 98 ecu Nd if I run a 95-96 I have to do the cam angle señsor and the spark plug wires on top of gettin it chipped Nd buying the v3 and perchasing a 95-97 ecu.And will the sprint 500 pass mass inspection

But i don't know how to go about it.Where to send my ecu to be flashed

That's the beauty of it, you don't send anything to anyone. Only thing necessary to buy is the tactrix 2.0 cable new for $200 or used for ~$150. (dont forget the mitsubishi adapter) I got it for $120 shipped

Ecuflash and ceddymods is free (unless you want extra features like bigger maps and speed density then it's $30)

and you can use mutmonitor to log for free or buy evoscan (much much better) for $25

I would stay away from Ceddy Mods unless Ceddy offers more support and updates for it.

To answer your question as simplest as possible.

ECMLink has run cars that are far beyond what your goals are in power.

Actually, youe argument is moot, because you missed the whole line before the sentence that is making you see red, his question wasn't if EcuFlash will support 600 hp, it is if ECMLink will.

OP, if you go the route of EcuFlash, go with the superior Evo ECU.

Doesn't matter. Your statement said ecmlink>ecuflash because it is capable of more than the op's requirement. But since ecuflash can also capable of surpassing the op's requirement, your statement isn't valid.

Now if you said ecmlink>ecuflash due to customer support then its a valid reason

No, your eyes read that. That was never said.

Once again, let me spell this out for you. The OP expressed concerns about ECMLink with a 600 horsepower car, which is why he was considering Haltech. I answered his question about what ECMLink can handle in a statement separate from the statement on the flashable ECUs. I am sorry that you feel the need to defend against non-existent statements.

600 to all the wheels maybe 650

Sorry but if someone can answer this question for me real quick i would appreciate it..What is needed to run dsmlink? I'm thinking of getting it but I'm not sure what is all needed? and eprom ecu and dsmlink? with all this talk about socketing and flashing the ecu. I'm confused. all I'm looking for is a short list of things i need thanks.
Whats needed to use dsmlink?

A socketed EPROM ecu that can be bought from ecmtuning.com
Dsmlink v3 program from same site
and a laptop and you should be good

Why not have your ecu chipped. They can chip a 97-98 ecu now

'98 ECU's (black plastic cased ones) can't be converted to EPROM. Only '95-'97 ECU's can be.

OP, it seems the thread has taken a detour and gone in to the dreaded "one tuning option vs. the other" discussion.

Both ECMlink and Ceddymods will handle your goals, no questions.
ECMlink will have far greater customer support, both from the owners themselves and other users.
Ceddymods will get you up and running for less cost.
You already have an ECU that will work with Ceddymods.
Standalones can be sweet with all their functionality, but can be very intricate and require a lot more time/money to fully tune (or even just getting the car started).

You can go download the ECMlink software for free and search through the Log File Advice section here to play around with an actual log if you wish. This will give you an idea as to what all functions/features there are and how the software works.

You have to decide what's more important to you. Having something that will allow you to tune every little detail of the car (standalone), something with a helpful community and that was developed specifically for our cars (ECMlink), or something that is lower cost but still a powerful tool (Ceddymods).

Sorry to resurrect, but I'm at this juncture as well. I have an AEM v1 currently and am considering going with Link or Haltech instead. However, it looks like if I just get a different optical disc the AEM is then reliable? My goals are 450-500 whp on 2.0L with a 6262 (I'll spare you the parts list) in a 91 GSX. I have a guy who is going to do a free dyno tune for me (Long story, but it's goodwill) and then after that i'll just need to be able to log and make minor tweaks.

Should I just stick with the AEM and get the Trigger Disc? Or...should I go with Link? The last option would be Haltech...what is it about Haltech that gets so much praise? Is it just marketing? It seems like I keep hearing about it, but mostly from people who own shops or otherwise sell Haltech. Any advice is appreciated!

I'm kinda wanting to use the AEM EMS too. Since they were comparing between the ECU flash and Link only, wonder if the EMS V2 would be any better and easier to use.

I am not sure if the V2 works for 1g... well I should say I dont know if there is a plug n play harness. Anyways, I might stick with my AEM...I just installed the software on my laptop and yeah there is alot but it actually feels somewhat intuitive and I have gotten to play around with it before.

My bad for not stating that I have a 2GB. And I've tried to put that detail in my profile but don't know exactly how. Obviously you can see I'm a newbie to this forum.

I'm still a newbie to this forum for the most part too haha. Although, I've been lurking for a long time...

I've never used any engine management system before so I got no clue in this aspect. But, to me, you get what you pay for. So I think I might go with the AEM EMS V2. Just need to do more researches before pulling the trigger.

What kind of setup are you going to be running? For what it's worth, if I didn't already have my AEM I would never buy an AEM (v1 or v2). If I didn't have anything I would go with either Link or Haltech and this is based on quite a bit of reading and from some trusted friends who know DSM. I might even sell my v1 and go with Link or Haltech...i'm still thinking about it.

You just send ecmtuning your eprom ecu for a socket job. They actually will look the whole thing over and fix any issues that it may have. It takes like 2-3 days once they get it, they are super fast. Sometimes in and out the same day! Then you just push the ecmlink eprom chip in the socket, plug it back in and your ready to tune. They even sell widebands, boost solenoids for boost by gear, everything you need for speed density. Then you have access to the link forum and here for help. It's so easy to setup and tune with. Unless your pushing like a 1000hp there's really no need for anything else. Link or flashing a black box ecu work so just pick. Haha

If its an all-out track car... I'd go with Haltech elite, if you want the most bang for the buck, and really amazing customer support, it's hard to beat ecmlink/dsmlink it has a lot of the same features that hall tech and aem does, but at a more reasonable price ,and as mentioned above a whole forum [for dsmlink owners only] dedicated to our cars with some good info, but talk with your tuner and see what he/she is comfortable tunning with, and you will save them and yourself some time and money.

From my own experience using ecmlink: I feel that ecmlink is pretty easy to pickup and learn how to tune with, and if you intend to do some tuning yourself, it's vary easy to setup, it should go without saying, but there is some reading and research involved, and there are a lot of link users with good info on here, and the ecmlink forums, to help you out if you get lost in the process.
