Hey guys i got a 98 gsx eclipse and im looking in to getting a dsmlink. I have been researching for alittle while now and i am honestly still very confused.

I am also wondering if i can run the dsmlink on a stock car like mine. The only mods i got is a cold air intake and a catback exhaust.

Also everyong is saying i need a wideband but not sure on what that does either. Ive always thought it was just a gauge but why is there a difference between a wideband and a regular gauge.

Like i said i have done research but im just finding to be overwelmed with all the info. i guess. Im trying to do it right so i dont do anything wrong and screw up my car.

You can run ECMlink on any car, from completely stock to a full out race car. You'll need to have a '95 EPROM ECU (that's socketed) or a '96-'97 metal-cased ECU converted to EPROM by ECMTuning.

A wideband outputs a 0-5v signal which is converted to what we know as the air fuel ratio that our vehicle is running. This wide signal range allows an accurate reading. Yes, it is usually displayed through a gauge. They can be similar to the generic air fuel gauges that people typically install, but the difference is the wideband gauge will output a number for the actual ratio (e.g. 14.7) instead of just a sweeping light bar that doesn't really tell you anything. That's all the cheap gauges do as they don't require an additional/different sensor and rely on your factory narrowband o2 sensor which only outputs a 0-1v signal.
 
You will need a eprom ecu. The wideband is for fine tuning(sensor and guage), and you can have dsmlink without a wideband but its not a safe pratice.

You can have dsmlink with a stock car. Get a wideband with ECMLINK and it will be alot easier to tune.
 
Ok thats for the help guys it really did help. So when tune the dsmlink what is a needed? the dsmlink the wideband and a computer? And also ive seen used ones on the marketplace, so is it ok to buy a used one or is it something you should buy new? Thanks for the help.
 
ECMlink - EPROM ECU/converted non-EPROM ECU, ECMlink package (includes chip and cable)
Laptop
Wideband (needed if you plan on tuning your fuel table - if not, then not as necessary)

It's ok to buy used. Just keep in mind that if you pick up a v2 package that it has the OBDII to serial adapter, as this is the key to that package (not the EPROM chip). If v3, make sure it has the EPROM chip (key to this package) and the cable. If it doesn't have the cable, you can always buy another one from ECMTuning.
