I know this topic has been gone over several times. But I have a 1g Talon tsi awd 5sp. that someone has hacked and mangled the ecu plugs. I have a 2g eprom ecu with pigtails and dsmlink. I know you can make a jumper harness to use the 2g ecu but the problem is the 1g ecu plugs are not useable. I have the pin outs all figured out. I know I should buy new harness but funds are short presently. Could I just solder and heat shrink the 2g pigtails on the 1g harness. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you can absolutely do that if you pay attention to the wiring and get things where they belong.. you would be basically skipping the adapter harness and hard wiring.

Or de-pin it and put the wires back in the 2g connector....not sure if it has the same amount of wires is all.

Thank you. I tried the depin idea but 1g and 2g crimped terminals are different. Looks like I have some work to do.

Just TRIPLE check your work before putting voltage to it. Hate to fry a ECU.

Well I got the harness figured out. Now a new problem. First off this car was setup up with a 2g maf. Now with the new ecu from the 2g it was last setup with speed density which I installed the 4 bar and IAT sensors. Before ecu swap it would start and idle fine. Now with the 2g ecu it's hard to start and once it starts it idles at 3500. I have triple checked my wiring with my factory service manual. All I switched under hood is the knock sensor and the 4 bar and IAT.

But if the ecu was already setup for speed density and worked great when it was in my 2g. How would putting it in a 1g change that? I was wondering if my throttle body or related items had something to do with it. My 2g with 6 bolt swap had a 1g throttle body with fiav blocked off and this is a 90 throttle body with nothing blocked except coolant lines. The tps is different otherwise I would change it to see if that changed anything.

Different motor right? Sd table could be way off. You could also have leaks in TB(fiav)....

I appreciate the answers. I will look into that then I will get back with an update.
