Another quick question. Would it be a good idea to change my globals? I think my injectors may not be flowing a true 1000cc (I did buy them new). I'm just wondering because when I was on speed density before, I had inflated values to get the car at the correct afr, and now even after entering what you gave me for a MAF comp table (and this is with forgetting to change the DA table you gave me) I was still running high 11 afrs. I increased the MAF comp some more after that and got it around 10.8-11.0:1

Its the only reason I can think of that I'm always having to "fool" the ECU into thinking there is more air coming into the engine than there really is so I can richen the car up.

On a side note, I have now switched intake pipes again and will be working on my VE table tonight.

P.S. here is a log of last night, and the clutch was slipping pretty bad btw.

So how much should I change them? Would I change it as I see fit once I do a couple WOT pulls on speed density?

I obviously don't have time to get them tested before tomorrow, but I will have to do that this winter.

Here is a good example of what I mean. If you click on the log and select the SD VE adjust for combined FT, it will tell you it needs to be over 100% VE by 12.9psia and 3500 rpm.

I'm going to try adjusting my globals and see what happens.

p.s. I had to shrink the file by about 100kb but I don't think that should matter.

Here is the latest log. I have been playing with the global and you can see that the LC-1 and AFRest are almost dead on. I ran the pull through your calculation, which gave me some new VE's so I will try them tomorrow. The numbers have gone down, but the top ones are still as high as 116%.

Also, this pull was done with the mbc turned all the way off, so basically wastegate pressure. It was holding 10psi, and then increasing to 14ish psi, kinda odd. I don't think its boost creep since I have a ported housing and wastegate dump. Never creeped when I had the car at 20psi.

Just out of curiosity, I was playing with Craig's LinkTools program and the VE scaling feature in reference to global. To get your VE table so that the highest value is ~100, you'd have to use a global of -45. I can provide you with the new VE table if you'd like to play with that, but to me that seems a bit extreme. However, having 123% VE at times I think is worse.

I would say your AFRatioEst and LC-1 look really good :thumb:

That would be great if you gave me a new VE table for new globals, but it's not the biggest thing in the world. I'm expecting on the clutch basically going today and then parking the car in a few weeks. LOL
 
Here's the scaled VE table for -45% global.

Now, I'm not sure if running with this and the new global will cause any issues. I wouldn't think so as you're scaling the table, but don't quote me on that. I tried calling calan to ask but he didn't pick up.

Whats your base fuel pressure set to? Injectors are flow tested at 43.5psi, if you've still got your base at 37psi you should bump it to 43.5psi and log another pull, this will lower your inflated VE a bit. If its still a bit high (>100) some minor adjustment to the injector global settings can still be done.

If your fuel pressure is 43.5psi in that WOT log then try the below settings...

The VE values its taking for you to get line AFREst lined up with your WB it is a clear indication that your injectors aren't flowing like a 935cc/min injector, assuming 43.5psi base. The difference between 100 VE and 120 VE is about 83% so try lowering your injector size by 15%, this would give you a global of -40%.

In either case, you'l have to tune your idle and cruise AFR's all over again. Once you've done this, do another 3rd gear WOT pull and post the log. We'll see if those VE cells are still over 100 to get your AFREst and WB to match up.

My fuel pressure is at 43.5 psi with the battery at ~12.5V. I have the pump re-wired so I think it probably goes up once the car is running.

I was told the injectors were FIC 1000cc injectors (I bought them used). FIC did make them before they came out with the 950, 1050, 1150, etc.

I'll take a cruise log right away here, and then I'll get a pull at the track and post it.

Sounds good, make it a 3k to 7k pull 3rd gear pull. :)

That is boost creep btw, it just creeps to 14psi though which is why you didn't see it running 20psi. Your wastegate setup can't effectively control boost less that 14psi, no biggie though with your supporting mods.

Ya I just turned it down for some tuning. Didn't want to run 20 psi with unknown afrs. If all goes well, I'll probably go up to 20 again after a few runs.

I only skimmed the thread, but I think either there is a mechanical issue (exhaust leak throwing off WB for example), or you aren't flowing the fuel that you think you are.

At only 37 lbs/min of air or so on a 14b, having to change global fuel from -55% to -44% to get VE values to go from 120ish to 100 just doesn't sound right.

I'm thinking its the injectors, and I'll get them tested over winter, but today is the last track day so I'm trying to make the most of it. I do have an exhaust leak, but its after the wideband (ebay O2 dump doesn't seal to my downpipe).

Here is the first third gear pull. I'm going to up the boost and do a proper run and then see how that is. AFRs aren't so lean that I'm going to melt my engine, so I'm going to keep making small changes.

Btw, track temps are over 90*F, so 120 after a pull with the fmic is much better than 200+ with the smic. :hellyeah:

So I did three runs total, the 3rd gear pull I already posted, a 15.1 with the boost still at 10psi, and then my third run was a [email protected] with a 1.954 60'. Definately not the best the car can do, but the mph is a new PB. They also announced they are going to have one last street legal race day next Sunday to make up for the rained out days this year, so I have one more chance to get it better.

Anyways, the car ran decent, but it was awful hot outside (92*F), and it was running rich. Once I lean it out, and hit a better 60', it should be much better. Here's the log.

Hey bringing this thread back from the dead. After a year and a half I have the car running again, new clutch in it (new streetlite flywheel, slightly used dual friction clutch), and the injectors were cleaned and flow tested.

Anyone have some fresh input into this latest log? My airflow/rev and combined fuel trims are pretty good but my LC-1 and AFR-est readings are quite off both driving and idling.

Hey Mike, Im at work now but I will take a look at your logs later tonight. Are these just idling / cruise logs, or are they WOT too?
 
That was just a drive down the road and back, so a little idling, driving, and a short third gear pull. Car isn't license quite yet. LOL
 
I've been reading through this thread and thought I'd share my input for you.

When I tune an SD car I actually don't worry about matching up AFRest and AFR at first. You want Logged boost and BoostEst to match at 5000-5500. Then after that matches, you adjust global fuel until AFRest and logged AFR match.

Ahh, I missed your latest log. Looks EXCELLENT.

At this point I would adjust global fuel and your AFRest and logged AFR will match up better and the ECU will be very happy.
 
So global fuel is what brings actual AFRs equal to AFRest? Would I go higher or lower?

I would add about 4% fuel and do another pull. You are leaner than your AFRest so you'd want to add fuel.

Changes in the VE table alter what the ECU sees in terms of airflow. So if you increase a VE cell the ecu thinks there is more air entering the engine therefore it increases fuel. However you want to make sure that the ECU's assumption if air (boostest) is matching the amount of air that is actually entering the engine (logged boost)
 
I set the global to -51% now, but I didn't have a chance to drive again. Tomorrow I'll spend a bunch of time driving and tuning.
