easy way to to tighten timing belt?

is there an easy way to tighten the timing belt without having to re/do everything? What i am trying to say is there one single thing that i can turn that will tighten it? Can i just turn the tensioner?

There is no easy way to do anything with these timing belts... go with what the above said, you probably need to change it. Unless you did and need to tighten it more, then you need to loosen the tensioner pulley and what I do is pry on it to add tension to the pulley, then just tighten the bolt. But again, no easy way...

Yea it def needs tightened. It does two things, it is very loose and it wiggles from side to side. It sits for weeks at a time without being started and it does tighten up a little (we all know that) but is still very loose. It is a brand new timing belt that is on my project car. I am selling it and want to tighten it. I did not install the timing belt but if all i have to do is loosen the tensioner bolt and crank the tensioner then i can prob do that.

When you loosen the bolt on the tensioner will it go out of time or will it be ok?

Have you read my article? You cannot simply 'crank' the tensioner pulley, you need a tool or a set of 90* needle nose pliers to put tension on the off-centric pulley. If you are sure you need to retension the belt, at the least take the timing covers off and measure the gap on the tensioner rod.

And yes i def need to tighten it. I have read various articles and yes i know you need that tool to tighten the tensioner

If you read blcknspo0ln's article you would have read this near the end:

"So, spin the engine 6 times (watch the dowel pin, it should start at 12o'clock and do 6 FULL revolutions to 12 o'clock again before all timing marks line up again.) WAIT 15 minutes and then check the gap on the auto tensioner with 2 drill bits. The factory spec for the gap is between .15 and .177"; Commonly used drill bits to measure these sizes are 5/32" (.157) to 11/64 (.172). To be obvious, the gap must LARGER than 5/32" and smaller than 11/64"."
