I want to replace my timing belt and wanted to get some input on what brand to get. Also how diy friendly it would be to do it myself.

Just did mine myself a few weeks ago

This is the kit I used:

You should also do the water pump at the same time. I got a gates one from extreme psi as well, half the price of OEM and works just as well.

Zip ties work well holding the belt on the cam gears.

The VFAQ was what I followed, and mine turned out okay.

Gates OEM or HKS are the only belts i would use. I personally went with the blue Gates belt for the bling. OEM will get the job done just as good though.

Ive used oem and the ones from autozone and advance for years and never had a issue with the belt breaking early, i replace it, and timing components at the scheduled time too. Threads on this topic somehwhere on timing belts and different options and opinons we all use.

I've gotten timing parts from parts dinosaur for a 300-350whp build. I've gotten lifters for my car and many motor parts for a couple other mitsu's and my tacoma.
